i like the fact that churches in nigeria now have there own private universities but what annoys me is the cost.i don't expect the universities to be free but alot of them are just too expensive for the average nigerian families to afford.what do u think?

quality or quantity? That is the question - the schools are trying to do things with a high standard, and that inevitably costs a lot - unless you want the institutions to be a drain on the church perpetually, then the high fees are necessary I'm afraid - unless you'll end up creating the same problem as the government owned schools.

i understand what they are trying to do but it will really help if they could drop the cost abit.the average and poor are the ones that attend church more often and devote there time to do God's work.

No civilization got very far by watering down the education of its youth.

Schools should be well built and equipped, teachers should be well paid, students should be WELL TAUGHT etc

The well-trained students will establish enterprises that can further fund education and create jobs for many other people (educated or not).

It is a multiplier effect.

The present situation of having many graduates who are job hunters is appalling. They should be job creators, with all the ideas they are supposed to have grabbed in school!

@ Jenny

I understand what you mean, I feel the best way to do that is to create a number of scholarships to cater for these low income groups and to give them a sense of belonging. Dropping costs will not be viable in the long run if they want the schools to remain well funded.

@ topic

considering the fact that the church is supposed to be the rallying point for all classes of the society. be it rich poor, mighty, great, little or insignificant, the church should be a unifying factor.

the least the private universities charge is 300k per session. my question is that what is the purpose of setting up these institutions? and who are the targeted people?

if the purpose is to enable qualitative, Godly driven education that preaches morals and societal values entrenched on the word of GOD, then thats good. but the target audience is unfortunately not the church. except u are refering to a special class of christians.

giving subsidized and affordable education to the church by the church should not be subject to watering down educational standards, since the schools are supposedly biult by the church.

except the church has resulted to the suspected, there is no moral and spiritual justification for such expensive education (with exemption to RCCG who to the best of my knowledge offer scholarships) from the church
