Congratulations on your admission to the university. Your success in life lies in your hand. If you believe you can make it after studying Crop Science you can. If you also believe you can't make it after studying it, you are also right. If the latter is the case, I suggest you go study what will give you the fulfilment you crave for.

I must tell you the rate of unemployment in Nigeria is astronomically high and the career opportunities I give might not turn out to be so. I often advise students to think less of paid employment and more of how they could create jobs for themselves. If one gets a paid job after graduation fine but if not, then life goes on.

As a crop science graduate:
*You can work in research institutes like RRIN, NIFOR, IITA, BAT etc as a research officer.

*You can work in a farm as an agricultural officer.

*You can also work in agro-allied companies like SARO, Kewalram Chennai.

*You can also work in a bank. Most banks require 2:1 in any degree as long as you meet their age requirement.

*You can work in auditing firms like KPMG and Deloitte if you make a 2:1 and meet their age requirement.

*You could take up a career in the academics if you have a passion for that.

I could go on and on. However, the onus is on you to determine your career goals and where you see yourself in the next 10 or 20 years.

I wish you the best of luck!
