My sister in Nigeria just had a baby. She went out with him (he is two months old), carrying him on the chest with a baby sling and people were looking at her strangely, talking in low tones. She spoke with one of them and the woman said she was doing the wrong thing by carrying her baby on her chest like oyinbo people. Is carrying the child on the back really safe?

Please which is the best and safest way to carry a child, especially in Nigeria. Pls help us out. See pictures i got from the internet and make your choice. Thanks.

Hell, my mum once tried to "back" a week old baby and I raised an alarm, she said she has carried more than 40 children on her back Some of them were even younger and nothing happened so I should shut my pie hole.

if she is comfortable with the sling, she can go for it but I heard the "back" is also very safe. And if the woman has to do chores, the back is more comfy but that's just how I see it

The back is the best in 9ja, using the sling is not 9ja tin. Even many ppl abroad back their baby. Personally I dnt like the sling, cos I cld rem the last time I used it, my body ache for like a week. It can only be enjoyed when the baby is still below 5kg. Using back is the best and safest way,it even keep the baby warm and more relax.

An important lesson in life is never listen to the "noises" in the market. In essence, do not let opinions of others give you negative feelings about the way you choose to raise your children in as much as it is not detrimental to the child's well-being and moral upbringing.

Whatever is comfortable to you is the appropriate method to use. If backing is convenient, go ahead and if its the sling, no wahala... its all good. Do not be bothered about the sayings of onlookers... Just make sure that whatever you adopt is safe for the child and your health.

I don't see myself backing any baby, it makes one look old and does damages to the b.r.e.a.sts, i guess. Sling and other baby carriers will do it for me when the time comes.

I might be wrong o but I think tying wrapper strongly around your chest with the weight of a baby sags the b.r.e.a.sts more, making it look all flabby.

LOL!! I don't think so! Because the woman's bra, puts a tight hold on her b.r.east! So sagging is quiet impossible

I can't imagine myself wearing a sling to carry a baby!! My shoulders will ache for days!!
Even in school, I hate carrying plenty books in my bag because my shoulder use to pain me if I carry the bag for a long time!
So I can't imagine how I'll survive carrying a big baby with a sling

Why would you run with a baby? The carrier is collapsible and can fit any car including "moto".... If you don't like the baby car, you can use the basket below...
