The High Court in South Africa has ruled that Chinese South Africans are to be reclassified as black people.

It made the order so that ethnic Chinese can benefit from government policies aimed at ending white domination in the private sector.

The Chinese Association of South Africa took the government to court, saying its members had been discriminated against.

An estimated 200,000 ethnic Chinese live in South Africa.

The association said their members often failed to qualify for business contracts and job promotions because they were regarded as whites.

The association said Chinese South Africans had faced widespread discrimination during the years of apartheid when they had been classified as people of mixed race.

well, Chinese are not exactly white, may be BLACK is the next category they fit.

Aaarrggghhh!!! So they should be classified blacks?? What next?? They should also demand reparations from the whites in South Africa and maybe their own portion of the land as promised to the black south africans by the government?? Heck, while they are at it, they should also join in casting out the foreigners from other parts of Africa since the huge number of immigrants have been blamed for years by the "blacks" for the poor quality of life they continue to subject themselves to down there. ugh! Africa!!

With these kinds of leadership africa is in trouble oh, LOL. After being used to leadership which continues to redefine logic, at times when you hear news like this the shock quickly disintegrates when you remind yourself that you are dealing with africa afterall, you don't know what to do but to laugh. I can't really say anything afterall Nigeria is no better, by the way happy nationwide black out day. I am feeling the darkness in spirit and would make sure i turn of all lights this evening to mark the occasion and arrange for my neighbours to rob me in the night to give it that extra special nigerian feeling.

The laws give people classed as blacks, Indians and coloureds (mixed-race) employment and other economic benefits over other racial groups.

It is clearly legal to classify these chinese as BLACK but I understand your fears.

Even in Nigeria we have a lot of 'Nigerians' that are not really Nigerians. A lot of Chinese, Indians, Lebanese,etc troop into Nigeria regularly without proper documentations and enjoy what an average Nigerian enjoy only in his dreams. South Africa has just taken the game to another level by passing laws to reclassify these guys but, the truth is that Nigeria is also in the same mess (if I can call it that)
