Will A Power Transformer Solve My Domestic Power Problem? Pls Advise. by DeSheikh(m): 8:21am On Sep 16, 2013
I am contemplating buying a transformer for my house. I am not sure which type yet but I want to be sure it will solve my power problems first. So what is the problem? I moved into my house (my personal house) only to discover that the power voltage in my new neighbourhood is very low. It can only power energy-saving light bulbs and tv. The fans turn so slowly that it is almost like there is no fan. Cant iron my cloth or pump water with the booster. The fridge, ac, microwave, water heaters and washing machine are just decorating the house.
Well, as you may have guessed, the load on the neighbourhood transformer is the cause of the poor voltage. I was told that to solve the problem, we needed another transformer. Unfortunately, I have been unable to get the cooperation of my neighbours to deal with this. I have installed a solar power system (which gives me fans, lights and tv every night) and I use my gen to power the booster whenever we need water but all the other appliances cannot be powered by these options.
So, I am contemplating getting a small transformer that can get the voltage up for all my domestic needs. But I need advise from experts in the house. Basically, the questions I need answers to are;
1. Will the transformer solve my problem?
2. Is this a good idea?
3. What kind of transformer should I buy?
4. Hiw much will that cost?
5. Is there an alternative solution?

Any other other useful comment is welcome.
Thanks.
