The Joint Tax Board (JTB) has formally laid to rest speculations about the extension or otherwise of the expiry date for the renewal of the driver’s licence and Vehicle number plates currently in use in the country.
A press release signed by the Secretary of JTB, ML Abubakar stated that the new expiry date for the renewal process is 30th June 2014 instead of 1st October 2013 it earlier gave.
“The re-validation exercise in respect of these items will continue till 30th June, 2014. The Federal Road Safety Corps, the Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) and the State Board of Internal Revenue are putting all necessary arrangements in place to ensure ease of the process,” the statement said.

Ok but I have a feeling that it will still be extended to December,2014 upon the said June,2014 expiration. Then,there's going to be a collision of re-validation of DL & New Number Plates and Electioneering in 2015. Those in authorities should have critical looks into these because if it gets clumsy,the angered masses may get more frustrated and the result may not be friendly.

They better reduce the black market cost of getting the number plate which is about 35k in Port Harcourt.

What value does the new number plate add to our life? They should first tackle bad roads, insecurity, unemployment etc. Hooligans...milking the poor and sucking their blood dry. Haba, God have mercy!

I had expected this. Nigeria likes making proclamations without adequate preparation.
1. No sufficient sensitisation.
2. No efficient processing of registration.
3. No adequate plate numbers/late delivery of plate numbers.
4. Even after the declaration, in most places, you have to wait endlessly to be enrolled.
5. Old driver’s license still issued (though not sure if it is genuine).

What a joke that was. Not surprised at all.
