well if u don't know what rooting is, u probably don't need to root your phone. Most android devices can be rooted though some vendors make it very difficult. I need to root my phone 'cos there are certain apps i must have which need root functionality to function well

One other thing, rooting voids your warranty so unless you have a very good reason to, it's usually advisable not to

that is the free ram. it can never be 512mb as long as the phone is working well. if its 512mb u ever see as free ram knw dat ur phone has spoilt.

just checked my tab2 ram stuff, the total ram is 876mb instead of 1gb. so maybe this a general stuff like memory size eg. 8gb mcard showing total of 7.6gb usable.
