Hans Backe's statements on Swedish channel TV4 have caused controversy. The former New York Red Bulls coach stated that Messi was seriously insolent to Guardiola ahead of a match during the 2008-09 season. According to the Swede, Messi interrupted Pep's speech to ask for a Coca Cola. The coach told him that he could not drink that kind of drink before a game.
