MBU/RIVERS POLICE COMMAND ORDERS CLOSURE OF ELEKAHIA STADIUM IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP 13, 0000 NEWLY EMPLOYED TEACHERS FROM COLLECTING THERE LETTERS OF EMPLOYMENT AND INDUCTION

RIVERS: THE GESTAPO STATE

Reports on social media and Nigeria Info station, 92.3 FM, a local radio station in Port Harcourt indicate that the Rivers Police Command today stopped the Rivers Government's newly recruited 13,000 teachers from collecting their posting letters.

The baffling action of the police took place at Liberation Stadium on Ken Saro Wiwa Road in Port Harcourt, where, owing to the teeming number of people involved, the Government had sensibly staged the posting letters collection event.

It's still unclear why the police stopped the new recruits from collecting their posting letters, but going by recent unsavoury events in the state, there are now palpable fears that Rivers State is now effectively under a police-supervised Gestapo rule.

Or better still, a state of emergency has been unofficially declared in the state. You will recall that there has been a political stand-off between President Jonathan and the Governor of Rivers state, Mr Chibuike Rotimi Amaech.

People are now at a loss as to why the police will be so compromised to stop legitimate functions of government and infringe on the fundamental rights of residents of the city of Port Harcourt.

There's yet no official response from the police.

In this technology age people still stay in long line under sun or rain to collect posting letter? Why are we still backward? Emails, text messages would have done the job. Orientation should be in the school you are posted to, not to get crowd on the road and cause traffic around the stadium area. Abi na stunt to show I create teacher work give 13000 people. Primitive

These are Rivers State Citizens:
1- it is their money
2- these are their jobs
3- these are their schools
4- they deserve to be employed
5- Amaechi is NOT doing them a favour

Finally, Amaechi should just grow up!

Don't play politics with peoples' lives: simple!

You hear me so

You are correct. The reason its done this way is because there is a political capital at the end. All tangible social policies through which the government is given visibility must be utilized successfully, even when, as in this case, the lucky employees are greatly stressed and inconvenienced.

what is wrong if he politic with the employement of 13000 teachers, have ur GEJ employed 13000 people and he wont use it as campaign slogan 4 2015 election? Ameachi is workin nd haters r dieing. You people should tell your GEJ 2 seat up. For me, i am from rivers state, i wont vote jonathan cum 2015 coz jonathan have not done anything to justify anyone's vote cum 2015 from any right reasoning nigerian. [b]I don't understand what is wrong with these backward trending set of people/politicians. We are preaching that we want an advancement in Nigerian govt., criticizing GEJ on daily basis yet subjecting our citizens to long suffering and hardship. The funniest thing is that Nigerians do not support or discriminate issues with reasons or facts, but with sentiments.
Tell me how in this modern age you would not send out postings through e-mails.

Meanwhile, in Rivers State, you do not gather publicly without police clearance. Not long ago, the State govt arrested some well meaning individuals holding meeting in the state and themed it ''ILLEGAL GATHERING.'' If the assemblage of less than 30 persons would be termed ''Illegal,'' tell me how the gathering of 13,000 persons without police knowledge will not be termed same.

Is this to announce that the state created 13000 jobs? Maybe salaries of Civil servants will be paid in the Stadium going forward in this state/country.

The most stüpïd âss thread.

For Christ sake if these people don't have access to the internet, then they should put up a notice for the newly employed to report their deployed LGAs or ministry of education and collect their letter of employment.
Is there no division of labour in Rivers State?

Cheap shot by ïdïöts at the CP and Mr President.

This is support by sentiment! Did you read the post comparing Rivers State and Rwanda? If you are criticizing GEJ, do that with facts. You guys just want to write something so we know you are also NLders. What description would you give to this Stone-aged style of disbursement of letters to 13,000 people in this super-sonic age? Can Fashola do this? Why do you have the media? Why do we have millions of Nigerians using this NL as a means of exchanging their ideas? I expected you to go out from one town to another telling every single individual what you just wrote rather than posting it here.
Did you ever imagine how rowdy that place would have been today?

Wrong target at the CP and GEJ

from your post, so you are "right reasoning", interesting. To organize up to that number,it should be done by sms or email(for those that have). All recipient names of the posting will already be with the board(council) of the respective schools.

When the names of successful candidate were pasted at the secretariat. The teachers din't protest against GEJ
When they wrote the aptitude test. The teachers din't protest against GEJ
When interview was conducted at the civic centre. The teachers din't protest against GEJ
To collect posting letters your saying they want to protest.
Is the liberation stadium own by the police?
This pure Demon crazy

Considering the number , is there anything wrong with them picking up their letter of deployments at the stadium. Why blame a governor who is trying to restructure education and at the same time reduce unemployment?Besides, the decision is that of the commissioner of education and not the governor. And she has finally arranged for them to download the postings online.
What did the police think the newly employed teachers would do? Start a protest? Are they thugs or politicians?
Why has mbu and his police not stopped any of Wike's GDI rally?
We know that Wike and co are not happy about the employment of the teachers, they would rather that he spreads the money.

You cannot win 2015 elections by fighting teachers, lecturers and students. Nigeria might even be grounded by parallel strikes if care is not taken. ASUU is already on strike, NUPENG might join them today and with what this Rivers Commissioner has done, I won't be surprised if NUT goes on strike tomorrow.

The Rivers State issue is becoming a macabre dance of the absurd. However, the Police Commissioner has allowed himself to be used by those who would be glad to dump him as soon as they have achieved their ulterior motives. Being a Niger Delta citizen makes his case pitiable. His sponsors will not be there for him when nemesis will catch up with him and that will be soon.

People are honestly stupid!!!!!!!!!! GEJ supporters are not honestly stupid at all!!!!!!!! They are very very stupid by default. you support GEJ, you become stupid by default!!.

Who's going to send the 13,000 emails? oh wait bulk email? By the time all the teachers receive their letters at once, where in the secretariat will house say 6 thousand that comes on the first day? because we all know with the employment issues in Nigeria, an email to 13,000 people that they have been employed will be responded to on same day.

GEJ supporters are dumb, stupid geeezz!!!

When you run out of ideas on how to move a state forward despite the billions of cash flowing in every month, try the much tested formula of loading the workforce with ethnic henchmen and political hirelings. Since this charlatan called Amaechi took over, River states salary payments have been increasing astronomically. On the surface it looks like a good idea to put money in peoples pocket, but where are the modern housings, the modern hospitals , the power/water structures? Instead of stimulating growth, he is handing out fat pay checks on monthly basis to an over bloated workforce increasing the consumers ability to strengthen the Chinese economy. How this leads to the development of the state other than making folks eternal consumers, one cant tell

Your points are in order but still no justification for shutting down the venue. After all PEJ organized a jamboree about 2 years ago in Abuja where bags of rice were distributed and many lives lost in the process.
