Ethiopia hosts African Champions Nigeria in the 1st Leg of the final round of the Brazil 2014 world cup qualifiers in Adiss Ababa.

All together, both Nigeria and Ethiopia have met seven times with the African champions winning four of these matches.

Ethiopia recorded a famous victory over their more illustrious opponents in a 1994 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, while two other matches between them ended in draws. Past encounters; 1982 Nations Cup Finals: Nigeria 3 Ethiopia 0 The first meeting between both countries was at the 1982 AFCON in Libya, where Nigeria thrashed Ethiopia 3-0. Current Eagles coach Stephen Keshi scored a brace in the game with Ademola Adeshina getting the other goal. Friendly 1993: Ethiopia 0 Nigeria 0 The second game was a friendly played in Addis Ababa in1993 and the Eagles won 1-0.

Two Victor Moses penalties were all the super Eagles needed to progress in the group stages in South Africa.

The Words

NFF

“We have a 100 per cent chance of advancing and qualifying, because in Africa today no team can overcome or subdue us. It may be in another five years to come, but certainly not now. But between now and five years, there is no African country that can bring us down,’’ Peters said.

“Yes, there are teams that you will want to face and say anything can happen. But, with Ethiopia, nothing can happen. We will just advance, because there is no upset with Ethiopia,’’

Super Eagles to depart for Ethiopia on October 11

The national team will leave for Addis Ababa two days to its crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against the Walya Antelopes

Nigeria will depart for their important 2014 Fifa World Cup play-off first leg match against Ethiopia on October 11, two days before the game, Goal has learnt.

The Ethiopian Football Federation announced yesterday that the match will hold on Sunday October 13 at the National Stadium in Addis Ababa.

The Super Eagles will be preceded by an advance party of the Nigeria Football Federation that will ensure everything is set for their sojourn in the city.

“The team will depart Nigeria on Friday, 11th October and there will be an advance party to leave several days before to sort out the team's accommodation and other logistics,” NFF assistant director of media Ademola Olajire told Goal.

The Super Eagles head into this crunch tie with the resurgent Walya Antelopes who only returned to the Africa Cup of Nations this year after an absence of 31 years.

The second leg of the winner-takes-all match-up will hold in Calabar on November 16 to determine which of the two sides will pick one of five African tickets to the World Cup in Brazil.

If I would be flying with the eagles down to Ethiopia, it wouldn't be because of any match, but to view those beautiful Ethiopian ladies in HD/3D cheesy
The beauty of those ladies is something else. I fear our boys might lose concentration, both fans and players and possibly technical crew.

The better the eagles prepare , the higher the no. Of goals they will score ...someone need to agree with me. Cos Ethiopia is no match to us .

No amount of goals will be too much for the eagles at this first encounter of the play off ,
Super eagles we need as many goals as possible !

Nigeria 2 Ethiopia 0
