BLACKBERRY Suspends BBM On Android And Iphones Till Further Notice by sennyaca(m): 10:52am On Sep 26, 2013
BlackBerry has suspends its plans to make available its messenger, BBM on Android and iPhones until further notice due to high downloads of the unofficial version of the app by Android users, BlackBerry in a statement on its official blog said. "Prior to launching BBM for Android, an unreleased version of the BBM for Android app was posted online. The interest and enthusiasm we have seen already – more than 1.1 million active users in the first 8 hours without even launching the official Android app – is incredible. Consequently, this unreleased version caused issues, which we have attempted to address throughout the day. "Our teams continue to work
around the clock to bring BBM to Android and iPhone, but only when it’s ready and we know it will live up to your expectations of BBM. We are pausing the global roll-out of BBM for Android and iPhone. Customers who have already downloaded BBM for iPhone will be able to continue to use BBM. "The unreleased Android app will be disabled, and customers who downloaded it should visit www.BBM.com to register for updates on official BBM for Android availability. "As soon as we are able, we will begin a staggered country roll-out of BBM for Android and continue the roll-out of BBM for iPhone. These issues have not impacted BBM servIce for BlackBerry," the statement said... http://frontiersnews.com/index.php/business/37-business/5426-blackberry-suspends-bbm-for-androids-a-iphones

What's the need of BBM on Android devices in the first place? For me, it's useless. Whatsapp is way bigger and better than BBM globally. Giving BBM out to Android and iOS is the biggest mistake RIM shouldn't even have attempted if they really want to stay relevant through the sales of their BB Phones.

The anticipation and rush for bbm on android and ios just shows how much their users can't wait to connect to blackberry users despite the hating, I didn't see whatsapp get this kind of reception.
...before the attack dogs come, I really don't care about any of the platforms
grin

Ok my bad ... didnt see the part that said iphone users who have downloaded it can still use BBM...I already know and understand the reason behind the withdrawal of bbm app on iOS and delay on the release of the app on playstore ....

...on a side note, you can as well say 'because' and not 'cos' wink

Cheers
