Hi guys,

It's no news that mobile phone makers Blackberry (formerly Research in Motion -RIM) is in hot water. Just last week, the once thriving mobile phone technology giants declared a loss of a whopping 1 billion dollars, and also announced that they would be cutting 4500 jobs.

To some of us, the news wasn't much of a surprise, because everyone knows that Samsung and Apple are now way ahead in the mobile phone market.

But, wetin happen to BB sef? why their hand just fall like that

Let's go through a list of possible reasons:

1.Apps, Apps, Apps: smart phones are smart because of their apps. Blackberry users, compared to the android and iOS folks, have the fewest number of apps. no instagram, no snap chat, and all the other cool apps that others get for free.

2. Design: at a point, I think we all got sick of the same annoying design. after the disappointing excuse for a phone that was the BB torch series, they should have attempted better touch screen brands without a physical keyboard. this would have allowed people more screen space to enjoy browsing and media-especially videos

3. Selling off BBM: HUGE ERROR! i understand that was a desperate plea for help in order to remain afloat, but unfortunately, that was actually the only feature unique to BB keeping most of its users. Now BBM is on android and iOS, it's all over for BB.

4. Hanging: BlackBerry, at a point, became synonymous with hanging. most, if not all BB users have at some point (sometimes daily) had to perform a "hard reset" by taking out their battery and re-inserting in order to get the phone working again. so annoying.

5. Booting screen: as a continuation of the above point, there's the infamous 5 or so minute wait (depending on your BB model) before the Phone is done with the annoying booting screen and then it finally comes on. then there's the extra few minutes you need to wait for all the other 'features' to finish their own processes, and then finally, depending on how good your network signal is, there's the unending wait for your 3G signal and BB logo to reappear.

6. Fragility: BBs are generally fragile. some models more fragile than others. I have seen BB bold touch (popularly known as bold 5) fall from a height of less than 3 feet and smash its screen. very pathetic.

Customer/Client is always right: number one cause of business failures. As a service provider or product manufacturer, your clients or customers is the reason you're in business. If you don't tailor your products and services to satisfy their needs, you lose them.

I'm pretty sure professors in business schools around the world are using Blackberry as a classic case-study of What Not To Do In Business.

Op, nice one.
I think the song RIM is singing now is, "lesson learnt, life goes on"

Again, we can't we sure oo, they might have a surprise up their sleeves oh.

Check the signature again " Research In Motion" lol
