Are You Enjoying Your Marriage? by Nobody: 10:50am On Oct 03, 2013
I just feel like asking this question from married folks cos these days, marriage scares the hell out of me. From stories about infidelity, physical/emotional abuse to incompatibility and family issues. I'm starting to feel it doesn't worth it. That institution called marriage looks overrated to me.

If you are married and you are reading this, in sincerity, are you enjoying your marriage? Do you think you'd pick the same partner if given the chance to start over. Are there lessons you feel unmarried folks should learn from your experience?

Why not start by reading and listening to good stories.... There are millions of successful marriages across the world, you only chose to listen to the bad ones.
We are what we listen to or attract. Change your perception, read good books, undertake a personal study of people who are in a successful and blissful union, then you will have good stories to share.

The creator of marriage knew we wouldn't be complete without it. Yes, it's one of the best gifts we can get from Him. Bad marriages are results of failures of the parties involved beginning from when they were still singles till they got married.

Between, you expect people to come here and tell you that their marriages are hell? Really!!!!!!

^^^ thanks! May be I've been reading and listening to bad stories... Just may be!

Responding to the last part of your post. Pls that's not my intention. I don't expect folks to come here and say their marriage is hell. That was why I said I wanted them to share their experience. What they feel they missed when they were single and what to-be brides should look out for or avoid. Experience is everything in life... That's what learning entails but I don't necessarily have to get there before I learn. I want to learn from people that have been there. I just need people to allay my fears about marriage. Whatever people say here will not stop me from getting married(I must get married) but I need to acquire knowledge before taking that huge step. It scares me sad

Kofsy baby, how u dey? grin

I think @bellong has answered you quite well. IMO, I think marriage is overrated, though it's a blissful thing. Only a HAPPY marriage is an achievement and no one can actually tell which one is a happy one or not except the two people involved. Some couples are gud at putting on a facade just to cover up their unhappy marriage.

My point- work out your own salvation marriage with fear and trembling. grin grin Ways to work it out have been stated by @bellong.

I am not married yet but I have heard and seen a lot in marriage life.
So many people got married for different reasons and it is these reasons that define their marriage life eventually.
No marriage is a bed of roses, there must be financial to emotional to social challenges and many more. If every married individual begins to give you the tale of their marriages you would find out they are different.
You can never know the experience until you are married then you can write your own story.

Hahahahaha! Only me I don die.. U wan use grammar throw me off balance grin grin

But on a seriouse note. Tho' i'm too young 'to advice' and have no experience abt marriage ..
Firstly, you have to know marriage is not a thing to rush into, take ur time well well.

I also wish to let you know that marriage comes with challenges. You need word of God and allotta patience..

I want you to write off that u people wouldn't argue.. Argument(s) would surely come up maybe once in a while. When ur hubby talks (normally in a high pitch) what you needa do is keep calm, don't talk, don't look him in the face and when he finishes *para'ing*, sit him down and talk to him. #i swear he would feel guilty#. Don't report him to his parent(s) and never compare him to ur friends' hubbies like 'can't u see, iya bola's hubby' blah blah. We guys hate that

Let him know he's the best and you wouldnt trade him.. Kiss him, hug him and rest on his 'broad' shoulder.

No marriage is perfect but if u can do all these, you sure gonna have peace of mind and lastly DO NOT ARGUE IN THE PRENSENCE OF UR KID(S)

Wishing you all the best in ur future and marriage.
Cheers!

This is the effect of what we see daily on TV about celebrities. Their marriages doesn't last cuz most of them marry for the money. a lot of happy married people are not celebrities, and that is why you may never hear their story of success. I agree with the first commenter. Locate God's word for Marriage, apply it and your will work.

Lastly, marry for love, not swag or money. Alot of ladies this days will tell you..this guy can speak sweet english, he has six packs, he is my one and only. whereas your potential one and only is somewhere thinking about how to make his future work, and hence may not have time to build six packs.

Please, try and explore a little more on the institution called "Marriage", God created the good and the bad, they are both husband and wife, they flock together. Dwell more on reading and studying marriages that work, if possible ask a lot more questions from those who are in it, satisfy your curiosity to the brim. Both the ones that work and the ones that did not, they all have experienced both the good and the bad sides of marriage. ONLY YOU CAN MAKE YOUR MARRIAGE WORK, IT'S SUCCESS RESTS ON YOUUUUUUU. I am enjoying mine, it's over 6 years now!

NOTE, YOU ARE AN ARCHITECT OF YOUR LIFE, EVEN YOUR MARRIAGE........START THE MASTER PLAN NOW, EVEN BEFORE YOU ENTER INTO IT.

Don't mind her! I know her kind, they only choose to focus on the failed marriages (which are in the minority) and scream ''marriage is overated, its not worth it bla bla bla........'' rather than the successful marriage!
