According to National Population Commission (NPC), Nigeria population stands as 174.5 million as at July 2013. It has been projected that the population will rise to 367 million in 2050.
Do you think Nigeria should tow the way of China on One-Child Policy in which every couple in Nigeria will only have One child, in order for Nigeria to curtail the population bloom in respect to the limited resources we have.
What's your take on these?

Take religion alone. How do you explain that to the huge population of Catholics and Muslims we have. Most Catholics don't believe in using contraceptives and many muslims believe they can marry up to four wives and have lots of children. In fact it will be the first time Christians and Muslims will take arms and fight together against government.

Then enlightenment is even bigger. Lots of people still believe in having many children to help them in the farm and also help them in their old age. How you wan take explain to them? Overpopulation is a problem in Nigeria but it is not the biggest problem. The biggest problem is corruption so government should bring policies to fight corruption instead!

Yes but it willl meet lots of opposition:

1. Unlike China, Nigeri is a very religioous country whose beliefs propagates the multiplication of children at all cost.
2. Chances of one child surviving in the Nigerian environment is little.
3. Implementation will be hard as triblism, nepotism and politics will set in.

Now, the question should be why such policy when our villages and rural areas are almost empty?

With basic infrastructures and effective laws and regulations; Nigeria's geography and landscape/mass has the capacity to comfortably accommodate up to a billion persons.

china were stüpid to adopt that policy in the first place & they are now in a bigger mess as there are now more men than women to go round.

the gender imbalance is so bad, scholars are predicting there would be 24 million more chinese men than chinese women in the next 6 years.

We can start by taking out the criminals to meet their ancestors. I believe Nigeria's population would decrease drastically, since we have more criminals than non-criminals.

Now, the question should be why such policy when our villages and rural areas are almost empty?

This is a good question though.
