God's calling today has been miscontrued for a calling to enjoyement. Many of today's christians arent worth the name cos they are yet to suffer a little of what jesus and the early apostle suffered. Today, christians give their life to God and expect everything to go rosy which shouldnt be the case. We are called to be soldiers in an on-going battle between good and evil and as soldiers we are expected to experience casualties.

Christ called paul and the early apostles to suffer for his sake just like he suffered for us. The case today is quite different as people see christianity as a way of getting out of problems of poverty to amassing wealth and financial success. Nobody is willing to suffer anymore. Some may say "christ paid it all" but i'll say he paved the way for us to follow to have a resurrection and everlasting life like him. And what is the way? It is a way filled with pain and suffering but joy at the end in a paradise earth which is the goal.

Most people see themselves as good christians cos of what they are enjoying. Even our pastors, after counting fleets of cars and jets rejoice in the lord. The early apostles left the home, family and belongings to be with jesus and to enjoy in that place where moth doesnt eat and thieves dont break in but we today pile up treasures on earth which makes it difficult to follow jesus.

My question for you is...what have you suffered for christ?

No human likes to suffer actually and we don't have to go looking for suffering to prove our Christianity. That would also be self righteousness and trying to earn favour with God through works.

However like you opined, Christians should not think becoming a Christian entitles you to a rose petaled pathway. Persecution will come, you'll be denied luxuries and rights to spite you and your faith and we are asked to bear these deprivations patiently like people who surely have a better hope.

Money, cars, Jets affluence doesn't validate your Christianity because Atheists, Muslims etc can boast of more. So when a man starts telling you how close to God he is because he has an abundance of this world's goods, then you know he's far from the Christianity described in the bible. Riches does not define a Christian just as poverty does not prove a good Christian. A life that is edifying to both believers and unbelievers alike is the way and we'll do well to take heed.

While we work to make a better life for ourselves and family, lets have eternity in focus. God has promised not to leave nor forsake us. He's promised to meet our necessities. Let us be therewith content for that is Godliness.

Almost every day i spend hours to teach people about the good news of Gods kingdom from door to door...and i do these under very unfavorable weather conditions like the scorching sun, rain and cold, treking very long distances, i also experience attacks from house holders, sme bang their doors at me, others spit on me, some pour water on me.
I also somtimes recieve opposition from friends and relatives for my decision to serve God with the right organisation.

I do not relent in my effort because of all this, rather it strengtens my faith the more, knowing that wat i am passing tru cannot be compared to wat christ himself suffered. And the joy i derive from teaching people the bible and being among those who are taking part in bringing the prophecy recorded at mathew 24:14 to fufilment has serve as a great source of encoragement 4 me to continue!

It's a shame I haven't suffered anytin 4 christ. It's high time I got closer to God.

In our world today, it is not people who suffer for Jesus but Christ suffers for people.

For they also believe they have used the talents God has given to them to cajole and threaten the gullible into releasing their money to finance their excesses. Yes! In all these they have done, they think they have suffered for Christ.

It is berating when you say Christ suffered and died for you, this is false also your suffering is not necessary in the name of Christ, anything you encounter is for you and for you alone!

I suffered today mehn. It was thanksgiving service and i was dancing so hard. At a point, i had to pull off my shoes and rock the dance floor. The man beside me just gave me one kain embarrassing look and said, "Hey miss, can you pls...you know...calm down a bit?" I ignored him sha and moved to the other corner.

Come down to the north,where going to church alone puts your life at risk,yet many ain't bothered...we still fellowship regularly....
I don't see Christianity as a meal ticket but I strongly believe that since I seek the KINGDOM OF GOD fervently,EVERY OTHER THINGS I need are added unto me..
so when am in need I ASK,SEEK and KNOCK with faith and guess what,I RECEIVE,I FIND and the door always OPEN....that is the joy of a Christian
