Daily Manna: Making Of An Overcomer

TEXT: ROMANS 8:31-39

KEY VERSE: “Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us” (Romans 8:34).

Apostle Paul here assures the committed saint of victory through our Lord. Arraying the vast arsenal the devil launches against the Christian - death, famine, distress, sword, principalities, destructive and deceptive pleasures of life, false angels, powers, etc. - the Apostle says these weapons are pitiably feeble matched against the force on the side of the child of God. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is that Force fighting on behalf of His saints. We cannot fall at the war front because if “God be for us, who can be against us?” (verse 31).

The irreversible verdict of heaven is that we are overcomers. “Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather that is risen again who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us” (verse 34). And Jesus gladdens our hearts with His declaration that God hears Him when He intercedes for us (John 11:42). The implication is that we have a picture of Christians poised to triumph over the cunning strategies of the devil.

This army, collectively and individually, is invincible. So, when we experience trials, suffering and ultimate death, we need not fear since our Master “Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage” (Hebrews 2:14,15).

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: If God be for us, no one can withstand us.
