Injustice does exist in this world and can be unfair. In the worldly court, sometimes the guilty is set free and the innocent ones found guilty. These question arise;

• Why does God allow suffering in this world?
• Why do the wicked prosper?
• Why do bad things happen to good people?

Psalm 73:16-20
“When I tried to understand all this, it troubled me deeply till I entered the sanctuary of God;"
then I understood their final destiny. Surely you place them on slippery ground; you cast them down to ruin. How suddenly are they destroyed completely swept away by terrors! They are like a dream when one awakes; when you arise, Lord, you will despise them as fantasies.”

It is a fact that we cannot figure out God based on what we see, hear, feel, taste and smell. This can only result in frustration. I call it chasing the wind. Furthermore, we cannot accuse or hold God to account on what happens to us. All we can do is hope life is fair to us, by keeping faith in what the Lord has promised us in his Word.

2 Corinthians 5:7
“We live by faith, not by sight.”

Ecclesiastes 3:17
“I said to myself, “In due season, God will judge everyone, both good and bad for all their deeds”

We need to put our trust in God and believe that he always has our best at heart.

In Genesis 3, we read the account of how Adam and Eve tried to elevate themselves to the position of deity by eating the forbidden fruit. This action resulted in the declaration below;

Genesis 3:19 (NIV)
By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return."

Ecclesiastes 3:18
I also said to myself, “As for humans, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals.

This is God’s way of telling us that we are not God, but rather we are answerable to Him. We may think we are gods but the truth is that we are nothing more than animals. So we die like animals Death is the ultimate proof that we have no control over the seasons of our life.

Ecclesiastes 3:21
“ Who knows if the human spirit rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?”

We can’t prove that there is a difference between the fate of men and animals. So when God asks the question “who knows”, he is merely pointing out that no one can prove the nature of the afterlife based on what they can see and measure. The same reasoning can also be applied to who knows why the guilty is set free and the innocent punished.

Ecclesiastes 3:22
“So I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work, because that is their lot. For who can bring them to see what will happen after them?”

What is our lot?

Our LOT is the circumstances that God has placed into our lives. So the idea here is that we need to just work with the circumstances that God has given to us in order to serve God faithfully and joyfully each and every day wherever we are. This requires us to move beyond what we can just observe here on earth, and live by faith, because there is more to life than just what meets the eye.

Are we going to base our understanding of God and how we live our life on what we see around us in this world, or are we going to rely on what God has revealed to us in His Word?

ANSWER
Psalm 118:17
“I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.”

God bless. Enjoy life. wink
