It is often widely held that success is a function of luck, a chance throw of the dice, and a random whim of fate. But in reality and actuality, such belief is fallacious as there exist no correlation between success and luck. Even if such relationship exists, its strength is highly infinitesimal.
One may actually argue that there are instances and occasions where luck has influenced success to some degree. But then, we cannot reach the definite conclusion that luck is accidental. This is true because luck (environment) is created (through preparedness), can be controlled and even predicted (through hardwork). For instance, a student who wishes to achieve some level of success in an examination can create an environment for luck by being prepared for the examination; control and predict his grade with a highly-significant confidence interval level through hardwork
Thus, what the foregoing implies is that, above everything else, “being ready” and “hardwork” still remain the truest secrets of success.
Therefore as Nigerian students striving to achieve some level of success in our various fields of study, get a well-paid job and eventually live a fulfilling life, we shouldn’t self-sabotage ourselves by subconsciously caging our mind in the fantasy that success is a random whim of fate meant only for the “supposed” lucky ones or even allow any idiot bamboozle and hoodwink us with such lies that scaling new heights in life is the exclusive reserve of the lucky and rich.
Although Nigeria is plagued with high incidence of unemployment, the light at the end of the tunnel could still be very bright for any determined and hardworking Nigerian student
The Nigerian job market may seem to be saturated already, but the question you should saturate your mind with is; how prepared am i to face the rigorous and highly competitive Nigerian job market?
