Every single track by Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

His songs were the soundtrack to coups, riots, teargas, presidential broadcasts, uncertainty, excitement, etc. I get goose bumps whenever I hear them.

It's not really Nigerian, but I just couldn't resist (the feeling's too strong).

Every school in Lagos wanted to perform this. Radio Nigeria couldn't get enough of it. It was performed at Festac 77.

Ipi N'tombia.

I'm sure that the Funmi Adams, Sunny Ade, Shina Peters and other audio cassettes are still in that bag beneath the boxes, but the problem is, how do I carry all those boxes and how do I replace them?

Extom: I don't know if I'm the only one in this kinda situation, but there are some old Naija songs I'll listen to, and it still gives me the bumps, and if I close my eyes while listening through my earpods, I still get that refreshing feeling of the good ol' days, when I was still so young that if mumsi pissed me off, I'll head straight to the children's room, lock myself up, hide my head under the pillow and listen to either my 'Palito', or my 'walkman'. smiley everything was so Indigenous, natural and pure.
On top of the list of my old skool naija songs is
PAUL PLAY's Forever. Damn!!! That song is my 'white line'.
TUFACE's African Queen. I listened to this song a couple of days ago, and I was shocked at the amount of hold it still has on me. Classic.
STYLPLUS's Stay Alive. This song literally made me shed tears back then...
Maybe its my addiction to music, but I'm most vulnerable when I'm listening to evergreen songs, because I do it with my ear buds plugged in, and my eyes closed.
I swear the feeling I get from good music is priceless!!!
I'll update more when I remember... Bye for now.

How old are you kid?

i took my time to read thru the entire thread there wasn't anyone that mentioned Fela songs except naptu and someone that mentioned Water no get enemy. Nigerians are really myopic and unappreciative.................

For me All fela songs are evergreen
The highlife and funky musics of 70s
The meaningful Apalas, the Jujus and fujis of 70s and 80s

The songs of those era make U sit down and reason...................An Oyinbo friend of mine in Canada Just told me about a funky Nigeria song by William Onyeabor while we were talking about Fela. Never heard of this song but the song is really funky and meaningful

I still have the audio tape of this.

King Sunny Ade - "Authority". The B side (Dokpesi) has one of the best preambles I've ever heard.
