There is Belize embassy in Abuja try and visit them they will tell you more detail, as a matter of fact Belize is not a place that most Nigerian do visit like UK and SA. The only constrain that is that the ticket is to expensive because there is no direct flight from nigeria to Belize but if you don't mind it worth it because Belize in not america which gives you opportunity to visit neighboring country in north america if u have you stay. I will also like to be there someday. Goodluck*

Belize is a small island country in south america, it is beautiful and poor country , it is not good for Nigerian to go there for hustling because there is no jobs like that and sometimes belize do experience off and on electricity just like 9ja.

Flight Ticket to fly from Nigeria to Belize is always around 500k if not more than now because not much flight going there like other countries.

In nutshell it all depends on what exactly you are going there to do.

All the best.

Hey!...Belize is not an island! It's a country on the coast of Central America...bordered by Mexico and Guatemala. It used to be a British colony but is now independent. The population is small ...not even close to half million! If your situation is that bad wherever you are and you really want to get as far away from Nigeria as possible then I guess it wouldn't be too bad. No big problem finding a job...but you need to get all your papers and plan well before you go on your one way adventure.

Stay through to your dream about going to Belize.

In spite of what previous commentors have posted before, let me tell you that Belize is the only English speaking country besides U.S and Canada in the Americas.

The connecting flight is through US and the economy depends more on tourism.

I had a chance to meet the lady who got their VFS service here in Abuja some time ago about 6 years ago I dont know if she's still with them again and I dont even have her number again.

I must say she sold me on the upsell of countries like Belize and its affinity to US (Just an hour flight) that I could secure the passport and be able to travel into US and other stuffs, but I didnt take her seriously, a decision I am finally regretting with these never-ceasing economic hardship under the current Dispensation.

So bro/sis (whichever u are), follow your dream! Look at the UPSELLs!

To get Belize Permanent Residence you need to live there as a tourist for one year continuously.

You will enter Belize with one month tourist visa and keep renewing it inside Belize for the next 11 months, after that you file for permanent residence.

I looked into living part time in Belize a few years ago to escape the hustle and bustle of corporate life. Its a great place to visit and vacation, not so much to earn a living within the economy. Simple requirements for a Belizean visa are proof of sufficient funds and a passport valid for at least three months beyond the date of arrival. At arrival, you will need a valid return ticket. US citizens, Canadians can stay in Belize for up to one month without a visa. After arrival, if you want to stay longer, you will need to go to the immigration dept for a one month visa extension which costs $25. Technically, you can renew your visa every month for up to 6 months, but I know expats who have been in the country for years and just renew every month. The rules are not enforced uniformly so you may have to leave the country after 6 months though.

To apply for permanent residency, you must live in Belize for 50 consecutive weeks. You will enter the country on a tourist visa and then renew your visa every 30 days until you reach 50 weeks. It can take a few years to receive approval. There is a retirement program (QRP) that is a much easier and quicker process that allows you obtain residency renewable every year with proof of $24k in funds per annum transferred to Belize. You must spend 1 month in Belize in a calendar year to remain eligible. Minimum age to qualify is 45 years old.
