If you grew up in a household, or raised in a particular religion where the consumption of pork was frowned upon, believe me, you will probably exhibit the same disdain towards the animal. |

Well my disdain for them/the meat isnt religious They're gross and the meat is bloody inferior. Why else do you think it was reserved for slaves and black americans? yet til now they still lap it up and it's killing them healthwise. I havent seen anyone who eats pork on the regular and doesnt almost look like a pig themselves It has also been proven scientifically that pork is more nutritious than beef and chicken If by nutritious you mean completely BAD for you then ok. Ask any nutritionist, a good majority are against pork. For those that "have" to eat bacon in the morning for breakfast, they also tell them they should switch to turkey bacon, etc. |

I'm a SDA. It's against my religion to eat pork. I've never eaten pork and never will. Really, we're suppose to be vegetarians, but I still eat chicken and fish. |

I love me a well roasted pig with loads of pepper. or boiled and the later deep fried until its really dry, of in sausages, beacon you name it. Screw what the bible says and dont say. It said if you eyes leads you to sin pluck it off: Mt 5:29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell I am yet to see a blind christian who plucked out his/her own eyes. Thou shall not commit adultery; Exodus20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery. Leviticus 20:10 ¶ And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death. But I am still bleeping |

Its not just about whether people can eat pork or not, based on their religious or personal convictions. Some people can even fight you for that reason alone. As if its their mouth others are using to eat it. na wa for zealotry. Thats why I asked if eating pork is supposed to send the eater to hell, for those who feel its a sin. |

Acts 10:10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance, 11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth: 12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. 13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. 14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. 15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. 16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven. Romans 14:6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks. |

" The pig also because it is a splitter of the hoof but there is no cud. It is unclean for you. None of their flesh must you eat and carcass you must not touch. " Deuteronomy 14:8 ( Bible) BIBLICAL ASPECT OF THE PROHIBITION Old Testament The Jews and the different christian sects and denominations believe in the Old Testament. Adherents of other religions alleged that the prohibition was already superseded by the New Testament. This cogent argumentation is inconclusive. No one can specifically point out that Jesus Christ (PBUH) lifted the prohibition. On the contrary, he upheld it he declared: " Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets: I have come not to abolish them but to fulfill them." (Matthew 5:17 RSV) Jesus Christ (PBUH) was obviously referring to the existing Law of his time , the Mosaic Law !- in which the Law prohibiting pig as article of food is mentioned. ( Leviticus 11:7-11) " As for any beast that is a splitter of the hoof but is not a former of the cleft and not a chewer of the cud, they are unclean for you. Everyone touching them will be unclean. " Leviticus 11:26 In addition, the book of Prophet Isaiah said: " Who sit in tombs, and spend the night in secret places who eats swine's flesh and broth of abominable things is in their vessels;, These are a smoke in my nostrils,a fire that burns all the day. " ( Isaiah 65:4,5b RSV) The New Testament Despite the Biblical injunction prohibiting pork as food, still people of other religious persuations insist on finding ways and reasons to justify their consumption of prohibited animals arguing that said Biblical prohibition was already superseded in the New Testament when in certainly, no one can specifically point out that Jesus Christ (PBUH) indeed lifted the prohibition. On the contrary, Jesus (PBUH) declared: " Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill them. " ( Matthew 5:17 ) The fact is, we will find in Mark 5:1-20 that Jesus (PBUH) even permitted the foul spirits (evil spirits) possessing a man to enter into the herb of swine. Since the flesh of pig is unlawful for the Jews, to eat and since it is considered unclean, (Leviticus 11:7- consequently, the Jews are not to keep or raise them. This Biblical account states that Jesus (PBUH) punished the owners of the swine;destroyed their unlawful livelihood and at the same time showed that pig is the habitat of unclean spirits. The only provision in the New Testament alluded to their argument is in Act 10:10-16. Without reading the whole context, one would be inclined to interpret it to mean that God abrogated His previous command found on Deuteronomy 14:3-8. An alleged apparition of Peter on Acts 10:11-16 is alleged to supersede Deuteronomy 14:3-8, however, nowhere in the Bible is it mentioned that Peter actually slaughtered and ate the unclean animals he saw in his apparition. The correct interpretation of this apparition was shown to him in Acts 10:25-28. Acts 10:11-16 therefore, carries an allegorical connotation,r eferring explicitly to the Gentile nations or non-Jewish nations. Peter was told not to call the Gentiles common and unclean because God's mercy, blessing and forgiveness also encompasses the Non Jews and life eternal also awaits the penitent. In the Bible, Jesus(PBUH) likened to a dog and pig those people whom after receiving divine teaching failed to profit from them and abuses them for self-serving purposes: " Do not give holy to dogs- they will only turn and attack you. Do not throw your pearls in front of pigs-they will only trample them underfoot. " ( Matthew 7:6 NEB) The New Heavens And The New Earth The book of Isaiah 66:1-24, is an oracle of the new heavens and the new earth prepared for the believers. Within the context, God condemns people's practices such as eating the flesh of pigs, reptiles, and rats. " Those who sanctify and purify themselves to go into the gardens, following one in the midst, eating swine's flesh and the abomination and mice, shall come to an end together says the LORD. " (Isaiah 67:17 RSV) Therefore, the prohibition on the eating of unclean animals was not abrogated during t he New Testament times.God will still punish the transgressors in the fire that will never quench. This will occur during the new heavens and the new earth. DISEASES CAUSED BY PORK The following lists show germs or parasites that are found in pork and some diseases caused by them. Many of these diseases are contagious while some are proven fatal. This proves that the more science advances the more Islam is shown correct as a religion of God. PARASITIC DISEASES a) TRICHINELLA SPIRATIS ( Trichina worms ) It is the most dangerous parasite to man ( Rheumatism and muscular pain). The infected persons shown no symptoms, recover very slowly some die, some reduced to permanent invalids. No one is immune from this disease and there is no cure. b) TAENIA SOLIUM ( Pork tape worm ) The worm causes malnourishment of the person leading to anemia, diarrhea, extreme depression melancholia and digestive disturbances. Cysticercosis means that larva enter the blood stream then settle down in one or more of the vital organs of the body, for example: brain, liver, lungs or spinal cord. They grow and encapsulate, inducing pressure to the system around, resulting in dangerous diseases (diarrhea, digestive disorder, anemia, chronic invalidation). c) ROUND WORMS Examples: Ascaris, which may lead to digestive disturbances, appendicitis, obstructive jaundice. d) HOOK WORMS Examples:Ancylostomiasis, which may lead to anemia, oedema, heart failure or retarded growth ( mental and physical), tuberculosis, diarrhea and typhoid. e) SCHITOSOMA JAPONICUM Bleeding, anemia and other syndromes. If ova are settled in the brain or spinal cord, paralysis and death may occur. f) PARAGOMINES WESTERMAINI Infestation leading to bleeding of the lungs ( endenve haemoptysis) g) PACIOLEPSIS BUSKI Digestive disturbances leading to persistent diarrhea; generalized oedema. h) CLONORCHIS SINENSIS chlonorchiasis-obstructive jaundice, liver enlargement. i) METASTRONGYLUS APRI Causes bronchitis, abscess of the lungs. j) GIGANTHORINCHUS GIGAS Cause anemia and digestive disorders. k) BALATITIDIUM COLI Causes acute dysentery and general weakness. BACTERIAL DISEASES 1. Tuberculosis 2. Fusiformis necrofurus: causing foot-rot which is very difficult to heal. 3. Salmonella Cholera suis: causing cholera 4. Paratyphoid 5. Bruceellosis: Acute, sub acute and chronic. It may lead to permanent disabilities. 6. Swine Erysipelas: causing Erypelas in man. Viral Diseases 1. Small pox: is was a source of infection to man. 2. Japanese B-encepphalitis: It is the source of infection 3. Influenza, foot mouth disease, gas tro-enteritis of the new born babies. Protozoal Diseases : Toxo plasma goundii- It is a very dangerous diseases.A new born baby of an infected woman may die within few days or weeks after delivery. But if he survives he may develop blindness or deafness. In adult chronic exhaustive fever with enlarged liver and spleen may occur. Pneumonia, or celebro- spinal meninggitis which may lead to death or madness. The patient may become blind and deaf too. Fats In Pigs: Pork contains more fats than other meats. Therefore, people who are fond of pork are more obese than others. Cholesterol is higher in their blood thus making them more prone to asthereosclerosis cardiovascular accidents and sudden death. Other Diseases : Flesh of the pork is hard to digest and may lead to chronic digestive disturbances. Pimples, boils, cysts are common in pork eaters. These are some of the parasites and diseases found in pork and/ or the skin of pigs and certainly there are many more. There is still no means of killing these parasites, in the tissues, neither has anyone found a method of expelling them, even produced any specific treatment for the diseases. |

@ Subzeero, I hope u know that meat from cows, goats, sheep can also pass infestations to man.Not all the diseases u listed are limited to pigs .U have a higher chance of getting Tuberculosis from the guy coughing in ur face and from the milk and meat(both from cattle)than u would from a pig.Jesus came to fulfill the law ie to do all that is of the Law.His death on the cross freed us from the Law.So being a Jew,he couldn't have eaten pork(same with Isaiah). If u dont' like to eat pork, keep it to yourself. As Christians,we r under no obligation to abhor pork.If any1 refuses to eat pork,it's a PERSONAL thing, not a RELIGIOUS injunction. |

davidylan answered the question well with relevant texts. It's not what we eat or don't eat that make us unclean. Any Christian that abhors pork because the Bible tells them so is yet to read the Bible. Personally I don't buy pork and cook but I have no problems splurging on a rack of babyback ribs at a restaurant every now and then And my faith is still unshaken |

Romans 14 2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs. 3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him. 17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. 18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. 19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. 20 For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence. 22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth. Q E D |

davidylan: If the bible is to be believed, then Jesus and his close friends were all Jews, and like all Jews they would have observed the Jewish laws of diet and hygiene. It is inconcievable that as Jesus and his apostle sat down to dinner they would have tucked into slabs of pork chops, or lamb not slaughtered in the proper way. In fact, Jesus is seen endorsing the Old Testament laws in Matt 5: 17 - 20. Why did Jesus have to make this point? Do you think the matter of dietary laws and food would have been an issue of controversy in Jesus's coterie? I doubt it. Could JC have foreseen a time when this would have been an issue? If Yes, then he could have instructed them as to the proper course of action. Some Christian answer this by saying that JC left part of his mission to be completed by the Holy Spirit (HS). But this raises another question, viz; Which entity is a more reliable conveyor of information - a real flesh/blood person OR some spirit? Are we sure that the vision Peter is supposed to have had constituted an abrogation of century-old dietary traditions. If JC had delivered this message in person would it have had more weight? Is this the same Peter would caused the death of two members of his church because they only contributed half of the proceeds of the sale of their land? |

@subzeero Do you know that all the disease you mentioned, have cure? (i.e vaccine, antibiotics vitmins e.t.c) except for "african swine fever" log on to www.thepigsite.com for more info. Now just like all farm animals if they are not well cared for, they pose risk of infectious disease to whoever consume it. Human (HIV/AIDS) Chicken(AVIAN FLU H5N1) CATTLE(MAD COW) PIGS(African Swine Fever) The beauty of ASF is that it is not communicable when consumed, it only kills the animal. when Jesus sent the unclean spirits into the herd of Pigs, The pigs ran into the river, drowned and died.(read ur bible well). If it had been a herd of sheep that were around that day the spirits could have enterd. Let me tell you why the owners of the pigs shouted at Jesus to go away. This is it-- If you read that account in amplified, or other simpler version, it stated that the no of the pigs were about 2000, Meeen that is large, just like the Legion of unclean spirits. If you know anybody that has a Pig farm even in Naija ask what the value of 2000 mature Pigs, its about 27,000,000 million Naira. It was a bad day for those guys but they cant question Jesus cos he is the lord. If they had know the creative ability of Jesus that day, they would have asked him to have mercy on their business. All animal dont have spirits, or a mind of their own so they can a carrier of anything. cattle, sheep, goat, chicken, vulture, rats, cockroach, cats. The only thing is that the wicked one(devil) capitalise on the natural ability of these creature to do evil e.g you wont expect a goat to travel from the village to meet some one in lagos in one night. so the wicth must use a bird . Pig was among the animal created in the Garden of eden (God saw that all that He created was Good)Gen1. Pigs were among the animals God told Noah to put in the ark for preservation. Jesus came to redeem Us from the curses of the Law Being made a Curse for us, For cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree Gal.. Therefore Jesus came to bring us back to the Eden experience whereall things that God created was Good including the Animal called PIG. Again taste and ye shall see that what God created is sweet, Man PORK IS SWEET. |

My view on Pork meat is in my Constitution simple revelation given to my chief in command some years ago ACTS 11 vs 4 Then Peter told them exactly what had happened. 5 “I was in the town of Joppa,” he said, “and while I was praying, I went into a trance and saw a vision. Something like a large sheet was let down by its four corners from the sky. And it came right down to me. 6 When I looked inside the sheet, I saw all sorts of small animals, wild animals, reptiles, and birds. 7 And I heard a voice say, ‘Get up, Peter; kill and eat them.’ 8 “‘No, Lord,’ I replied. ‘I have never eaten anything that our Jewish laws have declared impure or unclean.[d]’ 9 “But the voice from heaven spoke again: ‘Do not call something unclean if God has made it clean.’ 10 This happened three times before the sheet and all it contained was pulled back up to heaven. |

The newRomans 14:2-5 One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. Any support for dietary laws comes totally from the Old Covenant and were given only to the Jewish nation; Gentiles never were restricted. The New Testament in Romans permits us to eat anything we want in accordance with personal convictions. testament clearly says that Jesus died to free us from the curse of the law, not only that but it |

He can as natural with his jumping body odor as much as he wanna be. he can also be bloated as well. Unless he actually took showers and excreted the garbages out; in sweat, and in 1 and 2! Thats pretty normal. Will it make the Christians of today more hygenic that their god, since they at least have to shower, sometimes? Romans, of all things. Only the Post Jesus are needed to justify Jesus. Nothing Jesus say aor does is good enough. You have to go to those who heard him. Better, those who did not hear him, but concord a whale of a tale, in the tradition of Carvel Ice Cream's fudgy the whale. Paul is good at these things. And he found a slew of people who were eager to accept it. Funny enough, you will think that today's people are wise enough to read and understand. Reading and understanding only applies to all, except the bible; OT and NT. If what you eat has no role in what defiles you, ecept what comes out, then I am scratching my beard and asking why the expression, " you are what you eat?" I also wonder if what comes out of you are what defiles you, we must wonder how sweat, exhale co2, urine and feaces defile anyone? Prophets had better things to do instead of watching plates of believers. It could amaze you and in opposition with moslim teaching for 14 centuries, Mahomet never forbad pork meat, suggested neither. That would denie Mahomet got a biblical culture : "Allah gave us the Holly Bible with the true. The thora and the Evangiles". In this verset, Mahomet asks the moslims to study the Bible for understand the Coran in the good way. The lecture of Evangiles teach us Jesus was against the pharisians and the sadduceans. He reproached them to be submited to pagans (the romans) and to considarate that the lecture of Bible was enough to get the graduation of good jewish. Jesus was used to speak with an abstract language composed with enigmas, paraboles and comparisons to force reflection in his partisans'brain because he thaught that practice of religion must force to wake their spirit up. Once he said to his partisans : "Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the Sadducees". (Bible.Matthew C16v6 and Mark C8 v15). So they thought they couldn't eat bread any more. In a literal way, yeast is fermented pasta added to new one for getting it better and for helping it to blow away during the baking. In a figurative way, what makes Human better and blow the soul up? Answer : knowledge or teaching. Thus jesus asks his partisans to mistrust the pharisees and sadducees teaching which would soild their soul and their heart. Previously pharisiees were chocked to see him or his partisans eating with dirty hands. So he answered them : " To people able to understand : Every things swalloded by the mouth (dust, food, ) can't be soiled, only things emited by heart (hate, lies, pride , vanity, ) and expressed by mouth is no pure". 'Bible Matthew C15v11. Mark C7v15) Priests use this episode to teach christians that forbidden foodstuffs are not logical. Mark adds : "Thus Jesus declare that every sorts of foods are good". That means christians must keep in their mind that everything eadable are respectabale". Even to eat rats, worms or bugs couldn't be ashaming. The bases of casher foodstuffs are made by Moïse and his brother Aaron in the "Leviticus" (chapter 11) and the deuteronomy '(chapter 14). That means in the third and the feefth book of the Thora. Thora or Torah = Jewish Law. To summarize, Jesus teaches there are two kinds of foods. 1.food for the body are foodstuffs. 2.food for the soul and the heart are teaching or education. In this case, why does Mahomet decide to take forbidden foodstuffs back?. Answer : because he had understood the native reason. Whish reason? Answer : to prevent believer to get friend with pagans. Why? Answer : if the believer could eat anything he want ,he would be free to accept any pagan invitations. Going into the stranger's home, he would be dived into private different points of vue, with different targets, differents customs, different answers, Step by step, believer would get some doubts about his own religion ,and so, could leave it forever. But why does Mahomet declared illegal only three elements instead of jewish people having much more forbidden foodstuffs? And why espacialy those one . " I do not find in that which has been revealed to me anything forbidden for an eater to eat except that it be what has died of itself, or blood poured forth, or flesh of pork, for that surely is unclean, other than (the name of) Allah having been invoked on it; No sin for the one acting by constraint off meaning to be rebel or contravener. Allah is merciful" (Koran C6 v145 or V146 since edition) What sort of "yeat" Mahomet put in this verset ? Because those three éléments are not eater. They are Bible episodes. Amazing , isn't it ? Deciphering ; Died it itself : Bible contents thousands of versets. Only one of them talks about "Died of itself" as Moses talking to jewish people asks : "Ye shall not eat of any thing that dieth of itself: thou shalt give it unto the stranger that is in thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto an alien: for thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God." This is why declaring illegal "Died of itself" episode Mahomet teaches : "Don't accept anything from jewishes . They think they are unique people able to believe in God". Blood poured : There is an allusion of this element in the New Testament ." Jesus took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to the disciples, saying :"Drink it all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is poured for many for the remission of sins". Declaring forbidden the "blood poured" , Mahomet teaches : "Don't share anything with the christians". Flesh of pork, and other than the name of Allah has been invoked :in 70 after J.C., roman empire destroyed Jerusalem. This tragedy caused the end of Bible writing. It is mentioned in the evangile of Luc (C21 v20 to v24);. The romans , in their religion , when they won battles , praticed a ceremony invoking the name of Jupiter , and during it , a priest brook the head of pork symbolizing the overcamed enemy and it was eaten after. (Documentation in french language : "Dictionnaire de la Civilisation Romaine" by Jean-Claude Fredouille. Larousse editor. ""Dictionnaire de l'Atiquité" by Oxford University. Laffont éditor). Declaring illegal "Flesh of pork" episode , Mahomet teaches : "Don't melt with overcame people (jewishes and christians) et don't submit to the pagans sharing their deash or being sat in the same table". This verset is clearly a poetry expressing : "Eat everything you want but don''t accept anything from jewishes and don't share anything from christians. Don't melt with them and don't unclean yourself with pagans". When the prophet shows the way , the disciple watches the finger. @Gold_Finch, I'm partly SDA too in the sense that I go to SDA in E.ham on Saturdays and I go to RCCG on Sundays. But that would not stop me from eating PORK if I want to. I'll explain below. @All, [Culled form the Redeemed Christian Church of God Sunday School Manual 2007/2008] EATING Everyone knows that it is natural and good to eat. In fact, if someone is ill, the basic question that is asked is, "Is he eating?" We surely need to eat in order to live. In fact, God gave us appetite for food and stomachs to digest it. However, this does not mean that we should eat more than we need. The Bible warns us not to attach much importance to eating because some day, God will do away with both stomach and food - 1 Cor. 6:13. Too much eating is called gluttony. Gluttony is bad. God regards gluttons as idolaters - Phil 3:19. Overeating can send a man to hell. The Bible also condemns a glutton to poverty in this world - Pro. 23:21. It is not only in overeating, that food can be a source of danger to a Christian. The question of whether or not to eat meat or which type of meat to eat may cause some problems for a careless Christian. many of us know that we can eat any meat whatsoever according to the Word of God - 1 Tim. 4:3. 1 Timothy 4:3 and Romans 14:15 is where your answer lies, folks. |
