JMOI: Your people are the ones giving Nigeria a bad name all over the world. That Yoruba guy that decapitated a British soldier in broad daylight is one of them.

Shut up you dunderhead.

It is dolts like you that don't understand what social consciousness is all about.

And the Nigerians who are being killed in Asia for drug dealing are not giving Nigeria a bad name?

Or is it those that kidnap foreigners, brothers, mothers, octogenarians, and a school bus filled with children that aren't giving Nigeria a bad name?

What about those that have turned their region into a war zone? They are projecting positivity in your deluded mind?

Come back with one more moronic and idotic reply and I will slay you so bad, you will be forced to keep away from NL for a month only to return with a new ID. Oponu

BTW, don't forget to tell us what your family has contributed that is greater than what Soyinka has contributed.

Katsumoto:

That is it in a nutshell.

It is time for Yoruba folks to stop standing up for all groups because you can do right by them for 99 times but one wrong by them makes you a demon.

I hope Soyinka NEVER speaks about Nigerian issues any longer. It is time for him to lend his voice towards regionalism and other pertinent structural issues.

I honestly don't buy into the regionalism idea, since others would have easy access to benefit from whatever the Yoruba regional administrators might achieve due to easy migration. I want them to learn the hard way and make them respect the Yoruba ingenuity.

However, I think it's better to crawl before walking and take it one step at a time. I guess I'll have to align with your superior thinking and that of the few intelligent posters on this forum that I rate highly. eGuerilla, Prof Corruption, Pukkah, Chief Dudu Negro et al.

1. Being a part of Nigeria will keep Odua administrators on their toes. Being in a homogeneous nation may re-open old wounds.

2. There are ways to control migration

Soyinka is just a local champion. He cannot be mentioned in the same breath as the greats of Africa.

Interesting. However, those old wounds can be averted if the foundation is based on a consensus agreement and true federalism based on each subgroup being a province by itself. Anyway, that's still a long shot away.

But how can you curb/control migration within the same country? That would be very difficult to achieve.

One hopes that Soyinka's error of making the following, frankly unbecoming statement, “People said I call her a domestic appendage, what’s the problem with that? What’s the problem with Madam Shepopotamus?” has not done him in.

He belittled himself by getting into a public fight with the first lady. It is likely that the shame of the whole affair has made him go into hibernation.

History never goes away - why is Scotland trying to move away from England after 300 years (if we use Acts of Union) or 550 years (if we go with the union of the English and Scottish crowns)?

What about the mess in Belgium.

As for controlling migration - good old tried and tested taxation is your tool. Tax outsiders more but give tax breaks to foreigners who contribute a great deal to your region. The rate you apply to foreigners above what you apply to indigenes will be inversely propertional to the rate of migration. If migration is high, the rate becomes very high.

Actually, I think he is saying it is Soyinka's comment about another man's wife that is disappointing, not your post. At least, that's my opinion.

I can never support the demonisation of these politicians' wives. She is a wife and mother. Unless she holds a policy-making elected/appointed position, there is no excuse for turning any spouse into a public verbal punching bag simply for supporting their mate. Isn't that the vow they made when they got married? "Forsaken all others. . . in sickness and in health. . until death do us part"? Look what they did to President Gbagbo's wife simply because she would not abandon her husband to French invaders' bombs. Stop heaping your hatred on wives. Face the office-holder!

I can't remember the last time a man had to face this kind of attack due to his wife's office.

BTW, I'm not a GEJ supporter.

Anyway, Soyinka has always had good relations with Easterners, so I don't see where there is a fissure other than on Nairaland. undecided

No, no, no

I found Alhaji's comment disappointing.

A woman who feeds fat while Nigerian kids are dying from preventable causes deserves to be called out.

A woman who tries to get involved in politics that is above her ability deserves what she gets. She is meddlesome and power hungry.

Don't Tinubu eat fat? are Nigerian children not going hungry? Ok let me borrow a word from you guys when it comes to tinubu. "He is not a public official" now let me ask you guys is PEJ a public official?. If you can guys can defend tinubu in the sense that he no longer in public service why do you attack PEJ who as well not a public servant.

Isn't she a permsec in Rivers State?

And as a first lady, wasn't she trying to spend 4 billion building a nonsense first lady's shepopotamus lodge?

And I am no defender of Tinubu. I support him when I acknowledge what he has done in kicking PDP out and I criticize some of his practices. My post history will support that.

Point one:

I'd say the Scots are ethnically/culturally different from the English. They only share similarities with the Irish - and probably the Welsh, to an extent. However, with Yoruba's, they people aren't that culturally/ethnically different. The past still boils down to Ibadan trying to be the overlord - and if that doesn't happen again, then there shouldn't be that much problem. Also, I'll draw example/parallel from the Ibadan overlordship - to the reason why Scotland is trying to leave the union. We all know that London/English dominates the UK, hence why Scotland is trying to leave. I can cite how Gordon Brown was attacked by the English Press, especially Dailymail and Telegraph, when he was the PM. And his biggest crime was being Scottish.

Also, with Belgium - that's two (three if we add the German speakers) culturally different groups within a country. Flemish (Dutch) and Walloons (French). Belgium is like a "confluence" between Germanic Europe and Latin Europe - hence why they don't get along.

Point two:

Taxation would only work on the elites. What about the scroungers, who happen to be the loudest ones? You definitely can't tax people with no formal means of livelihood, can you? And migration within a country can't be curbed/controlled, without the type of backlash that happened during the Fashola-gate. Regardless, I don't hate no one. I just want a situation whereby people learn the hard-way and are forced to respect you. Yoruba's have done no harm to these people, yet they're indoctrinated to hate all Yoruba's from birth. That's unacceptable!
