I am bound to think a lot of people will answer yes to this topic without a fundamental reason. You should never automatically assume that anyone who does something bad to you will be automatically jilted - as if it's a law set in stone from the medieval ages. I have my reasons for believing in karma. I didn't believe payback is a bitch until a recent string of events sent me into a wall of troubles and occasional depression. And no, it's not because I got a girl pregnant in primary 6 and forced her to abort the child.

I'm just starting this thread for the heck of it. Do you believe in karma? If you answer yes or no, explain why.
Re: Do You Believe In Karma? by Gamine(f): 11:02am On Jul 09, 2008
What is Karma?

i believe in What you Sow, You will Reap

in any way possible.

Life as we know it is about give and take,
You cant transcend the laws of nature while still in Nature.

Yes I believe in Karma, when you do good it reflects back on you and when you do bad it will eventually blow up in your face. It's good to be good at all times.

What are the laws of nature?  Provide examples and I might be able to dig up some instances where these so-called-laws have been transcended.

Why do you believe that you will reap what you sow?  The people considered statutory rapists do not get to reap what they sowed do they?  How do you explain statutory rapists becoming registered sex-offenders while cold-blooded murderers who get released on bail get to live invisibly and without hassle as your next-door neighbors.

I'm not a big believer in popular religions and its teachings but I do believe that Good begets Good and Evil begets Evil. What goes around, as I have found from experience, usually comes back around. Thats just the way life works.

Is this one of those laws of nature that has no systematical proof but we just practically have to accept?
Re: Do You Believe In Karma? by Gamine(f): 11:22am On Jul 09, 2008
The proofs of the law of Give and Take are too many.

You give CO2 you get O2

The waters give us rain,

when ur ass becomes grass

. . . .too many

I think it is more of a philosophical ideology that proposes cause and effect. Through the law of Karma, the effects of all deeds are translated into past, present and future experiences. Morally too, it is at par because it teaches that we should be resposible for our actions because each action comes with a consequence. That is common sense really isnt it?

Philosophical superstition more like. There's no theory or law that suggests that karma is nature's way of saying you screwed up; rather, we have come to accept it as a general principle that we live by.

People do bad deeds every day and this same karma fails to catch up to them. Is karma discriminatory? Those darn crooks we call our leaders in Aso Rock have been doing us dirty for decades, where is the karma to flush them out.

Well said!!!

KARMA is man's way of consoling himself for ill-luck and poor planning
Hitler killed how many millions of people, when Mr KARMA wanted to get him, what happened?
He died . . . the same way the six year old girl that was walking on the street when a gas leak exploded
The same way people in the Twin Towers died on 9/11

KARMA is just a big farce
Re: Do You Believe In Karma? by nana(f): 11:55am On Jul 09, 2008
I really do not believe in Karma because if Karma were to really be in existence, then people that do evil would def. reap evil. Take for example, all these murderers being arrested in UK,if a murderer ever get caught,he's just going to get a jail sentence and might even be released in few yrs.

Another example is all the money-squandering politicians we have in Nigeria,do they ever encounter all the bad things they do to the masses?

Though, some people havent been quite lucky with getting away wiv their evil deeds tho. Like they say Payback is a bitch.
Lets look at another example, What about partners that cheat in a r/ship. Some do get away wiv it while some dont.

Another example is a situation whereby you help someone out of a situation or sumfin out of ur own free good will ,but that person turns around and stabs u.

DARN! You two have raised some really strong points here.
Re: Do You Believe In Karma? by Gamine(f): 12:13pm On Jul 09, 2008
Lol.

Which strong point.

Since i dont know what Karma is right now.
i will suspend my comments.

But i do know that Hitler, his generations and Germany are reaping what they sowed.

I agree with you. There is no law to back up Karma, philosophical ideologies are superstitions anyway. However, I believe very strongly in the whole "do unto others. . . ." school of thought.

Oh my dayzz . . . you're cracking me up
Germany's suffering?? Don't let Dayokanu hear that from you

Till tomorrow, there are still people that believe Hitler is the greatest man that ever stepped on the earth's surface
His family are living life, like the average individual

And with a GDP of over $30,000 per capita for Germany, it goes to show that they're not having it as bad as Mr KARMA wants it to be

And you failed to explain what the kids like Rhys Jones and Damilola Taylor did to get killed brutally like that
Could we explain it as a punishment for copying from their sitmates in exams ? tongue

I'm still demanding an explanation for Hitler's punishment for the Holocaust
And why Abacha died such an easy death too

And if Mr Karma could help me explain what the Damilola Taylors and Rhys Jones' did to get killed like animals, I'll be really grateful

Yes i believe in karma. shoot every time some one does something over the top wrong to me i use those famous lines from the Color Purple, "Until you do right by me, everything you think about is going to crumble." classic.

Its what Humans did.

Gamine:

So KARMA will prefer to punish other people and leave the main culprits?

Hitler killed Jews, but Rhys Jones is being punished?
Meaning I might get punished for Thaksin's human right abuse?
Or maybe I'll get shot because Abacha killed Many people and went on to die a natural death.

Believe me that argument is flawed
Re: Do You Believe In Karma? by sistawoman: 2:18pm On Jul 09, 2008
Karma is real and karma does not always come back to you in the same form that you sent it out. Karma has a way of fucking with you or your children or someone close to you.

I have done my share of dirt and Karma has paid me back but there is no way for me to know if karma is done with me or if there are other sins i must pay for.

It is not that those people that died are paying for someone elses karma or maybe they are if someone close to them did some real dirt they could be or it could simply be that it was their time to go and this was the way God choose for them to go. Perhaps there is a leason from their death that is meant to be found/learned and that is why they died the way they did.
Karma always finds you, in this life or the next. Now that is a different topic if you believe in reincarnation then you know that karma can always catch up to you.

can't say about Hitler, but atleast Abacha is dead, thats a much deserved payback don't you think.

I believe in what you sow, you'll reap. It doesn't necessarily have to be in this lifetime, though.
