My journey started last year when I got admitted into the University of Ilorin. I can't forget how I screamed for joy that evening. I got my desired course 'business administration' and believe me am proud to be studying that course. The intention I had of what my grade would be was 'minimum 2.1 no matter the grade score, I just want to fall within 3.5 - 4.5. So I started the journey, 1st semester exams came and past, result were released in 2nd semester except for the cbt exams that were released 3 weeks after the exam. I'm really not good in accounting got lucky that I didn't fail the course( acc 101) heard a lot of peeps failed itn my gratitude to God for excluding me because I got 40 on the dot though I failed Acc 102. I'm still trying to decipher how I got #20 in test only to see #13 in my exam score sheet. My g.p.a for first semester was 2.9. Some of the result of the exams I wrote made me wonder things like;
Is my writing not so express able?
Is my handwriting not clear enough of which I know is good if not better?
How come someone who is not, let's say well intelligent and below average got a B and I got an E? Someone that if I could bring the exam questions we were giving to answer last semester and it was marked by a Scholar he/she won't be able to get a D.
I even remember I heard some rumours from a close friend of mine, of lecturers and some students, I don't have business with that cos that's not the reason I came to Unilorin to school.
Is the lecturers marking scheme that high or what?
I remember scoring #20 in a test, got like +5 in an assignment only to get a D, the exact score was even 46.
I sometimes wonder what goes on within the walls of my faculty.
Now my CGPA is 2.59 which is way too low to my expectations. I remember telling a friend why I chose Unilorin was because you get what you put in(test, assignment and exams), and that there is no fluke if you no what I mean or let's call it EQUITY.
A new semester has already begun and my QUESTION here is can I be able to get to a 2.1 before I graduate come 2016. Am seriously putting this session and the rest in God Hands and am staying Positive because this things are not going the way I expected them.

Bro, i know u are a booky unlike me, i don't care about grades, as far as naija is concern, the only peeps who have the opportunity not to struggle after graduation are the first class(only the ones that merited it). U sound surprise when u noticed somebody u were better than scoring above u, that's naija signature for u, if u don't have the brains have the cash, it happens everywhere and it's currently happening in medical courses, that's why we have quacks everywhere. When i was in school, my coursemate who was thinking like u committed suicide after he missed a 6months I.T defense. My advise for u is, just be as focused as possible, maybe u'll get better when u'll get to b.admin courses not just a general courses u did in ur 1st year.

Rip to ur cousemate. You know I don't want to disappoint my parents and this is not something I could easiily tell my parent cos they will see it as an excuse or a mirage.

Yap guy, i know u are a very young guy, ask ur close friend who's working hard in his studies, he'll tell u the same (i'm doing it for my parents). Don't tell me that it was ur parents that made u choose b.admin, coz that'll be bad. 50% of intelligent unsuccessful ppl in naija, are those that listens to their parents in terms of their future, yes, we know that parents loves u more than any being on earth, but if u can't make ur own decision for once, u'll always be that same little kid ur parents knew. I love writing since my primary school days but my parents made me to study engr instead of literature, and i turn out amongst the worst graduate of my set, and now i'm struggling to make a living as a writer, what am i trying to say - u'll always make ur parents proud, if not in education, it'll be in proffession.

You discovered yours quite early, it was in secondary school I discovered I had more interest in business studies in my junior year nd commerce in senior year. I want to become an Entrepreneur a Successful One by Gods Grace. My parents never had any say in my choice of profession because they saw it reflecting on my second sch grade..

Its wonderful stumbling upon this thread, well let me share my own experience.

I was admitted 2008, then i was down with a terminal illness but thank God i survived it, then in my 100level i wrote both 1st and 2nd semester without attending lectures, missed most tests meaning no CA for me, when all my results were out my CGPA was like 2.6. Then during second year i had my surgery and i was well and fit to study again, i began working hard, i am hardly a social type, i began reading with top students in my class, weekdays i usually come home late and i go to school to read even on weekends.

Am now in final year 500level and my CGPA up-till 400level is 3.34, am still hoping that my final year exam will boost my CGPA further into above 3.5 by Gods grace. What really helped was

1. I mixed alot with bookworms cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy my guys read alot.
2. I studied my lecturers as to what they expect from you in exams, like some lecturers prefer you to write detailed answer, some will want you to go straight to point, some will want you to write exactly what they gave you then others will prefer you to make some researches.
3. Past questions will help prepare your own exam before the main exam.
4. Read far ahead before semester exam atleast you must have covered you scope 3x
5. God factor, determination and keep motivating yourself till you achieve your aim.
