Jydebauer: Great post. Emotionally-touching images. Another one that comes to mind is dat of Phan Thị Kim Phúc - the little Vietnamese girl pictured with her skin seared, running and screaming in the aftermath of the Napalm bombs dropped on her village by US military. Here's the link: http://m.digitaljournal.com/article/326206
You read the article atall?. Na so u hate the U.S reach?.
a plane of the South Vietnamese Air Force bombed the village of Trang Bang, near Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City) in South Vietnam. Trang Bang had been recently occupied by the North Vietnamese Army. A group of civilians and South Vietnamese soldiers were leaving a Cao Đàitemple and a South Vietnamese pilot mistook them for enemy troops. He bombed the group. The bombs contained napalm, a highly flammable fuel widely used in the Vietnam War. The fire killed and badly burned several people on the ground.
Among them was Kim Phuc Phan Thi, a 9-year-old girl, who was with her family at the pagoda attending a religious celebration. Relatives of Kim Phuc were killed by the attack.

The vulture and the starving child, very touching. Carter (the photographer) commited suicide because he was haunted by the questions as to the little gilr's fate, though carter admitted to chasing the vulture away after takin the shot but no one knows if she survived or not. thank u ops for these reflections.

The Vulture and the starving child. Lucky Dube's Crazy World playing in my mind. An innocent child who never knew anything about war, dying because of some people's decision to fight each other. Looking at the Biafra pictures should tell us as a country the part not to tread. The warmongers on nairaland, over to you.....SMH

A small girl named Ula from Biafra's Igbo people, uses a stick to support herself as she walks in the outskirts of Owerri in Nigeria's rebelling province, Dec 3, 1998. Ula is estimated to be about 6 years old and is one of hundreds of thousands of Igbo children suffering from advanced malnutrition caused by the Starvation Policy of the Nigerian Government. Her weakened body rejects nutritious food.

This picture hangs in the Oxford University War Memorial, United Kingdom.

Today is thanksgiving. Pictures like these remind me why we just should not complain. No matter how bad things are just remember that in that very moment someone somewhere is probably going through the same or worse hell. Let's be thankful

Men cause wars not God n part of d consequences of war is that innocent pple die.
Our human minds cannot phathom these things but d least we cN do is let God use us 2 make d world bettr place.

We throw food away without knowing there's someone out there who has not had a meal... where is God in our selfishness?

We can't n shd not blame God 4 our sins... that part of us is entirely ours

ajanaku2: These Pictures would definitely melt the stoniest of Hearts!

And they tell Me there's a most-loving, caring, benevolent, All-knowing, kind "God" up there!

I still think that "God" exists only in their subjective imaginations! In reality, he's non-existent!

This was the picture i was looking for. Surprised it doesnt feature on the OP's top 30.
This is one of the most devastating pictures ever taken. Reports had it that the photographer committed suicide few months later because she was haunted by the picture - the thought of a vulture patiently waiting to feed on the dying boy. Good God the boy made it to the food camp.

anyway he stood for dt long hours, 23!!!
THAT MAKES HIM A LEGEND

Everybody noticed. The guy is truly a legend but at the end of the day he gets payed a lot of money. He went to school to be able to do that. On the other hand that kid didn't ask to be starved so he can be gawked at by vultures.
