A.G.O To Be Subsidized

What is happening in our Yaradua Nigeria??

i don't believe i really live in a country with a president,

Nupeng is striking, no fuel and black market is booming

AGO to be subsidized now

What does that spell for us
Re: Diesel To Be Subsidized by Seun(m): 11:05pm On Jul 13, 2008

Re: Diesel To Be Subsidized by debosky(m): 11:45pm On Jul 13, 2008
AGO (automotive gas oil) is the technical name for diesel.

where did you get the information that diesel will be 'subsidized'? Any links?

Your thread is not too coherent either, what does NUPENG's strike have to do with subsidized diesel and the other issues you raised?
Re: Diesel To Be Subsidized by Gamine(f): 11:54pm On Jul 13, 2008
I have the links sir.
they arent online.
but you will see it soon enough in the papers.

Nupeng and the other Pet guns have been in talks with the govt.

i dont know why they are striking o!

they say the diesel prices keep climbing

so its either petrol increases or diesel is subsidized

If AGO is subsidized it will spell wahala for a lot of oil traders.

and only God knows what will happen to the economy.

Anyways, God help Nigeria
Re: Diesel To Be Subsidized by debosky(m): 12:02am On Jul 14, 2008
There is actually a link; some of the oil dealers themselves including Otedola of Zenon Oil are asking for the subsidization of diesel. Prices are rising around the world and no subsidies are being implemented to curb the costs, why should we act differently?

http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=116307

prices have risen from N105 two months ago to about N160 now, manufacturers are groaning under the extreme costs. Even with that, I do not think diesel subsidies will be the solution, it will simply mean we are using funds that could be better utilised to service the power stations and the like to keep the current system running, as unsustainable as it is.
Re: Diesel To Be Subsidized by Gamine(f): 12:10am On Jul 14, 2008
Thats the thing.

The Subsidies will not help much, it will hurt.

What i'm saying right now is that the call has been made and

By tomorow or next it will be in the papers that Diesel has been subsidized.

Many Traders will not find it funny
Re: Diesel To Be Subsidized by debosky(m): 12:14am On Jul 14, 2008
The rising cost of diesel is hurting traders as well, I don't know why they won't like it. . .they will be the ones to receive the subsidy from government to cover the high prices of bringing in the product.

Right now they have to invest more capital to bring in the same quantity of diesel due to the high price, and probably charge a smaller margin in order not to drive their customers out of business. For the dealers it is a good deal to have subsidy, if it is paid on time that is.

Why do you think diesel traders will not find it funny?
Re: Diesel To Be Subsidized by Gamine(f): 12:21am On Jul 14, 2008
Traders who buy product from companies

like Addax petroleum wont be able to deal that way.

They would have to buy directly from the govt and its going to worsen the competition.

They are all just waiting to see what happens.
Re: Diesel To Be Subsidized by debosky(m): 12:26am On Jul 14, 2008
I think you"re getting things mixed up - subsidy does not mean government will be the one supplying/importing, it means that whatever volume of products is imported by the oil companies gets subsidized through payments from the government. I do not think suppliers will have any problems if its subsidized; they might even be able to sell more product if the govt. subsidy makes it cheaper, making the companies buy more diesel.
Re: Diesel To Be Subsidized by Gamine(f): 12:33am On Jul 14, 2008
When i say Government

i mean selected suppliers.

So when theres plenty product in the market

How are the traders goin to sell?

it will worsen the competition i say.

Otedola is talking because he knoes he has a huge share of the market

but i tell ya it will hurt some plenty people.
Re: Diesel To Be Subsidized by SkyBlue1: 7:27am On Jul 14, 2008
and this is why it would continue to defy common sense that one of the largest exporters of crude oil in the world does not have refineries and hence needs to import diesel and other value added products that are obtained from the crude oil it exports. What an ode to supidity. Some people need to be flogged
Re: Diesel To Be Subsidized by Gamine(f): 8:30am On Jul 14, 2008
Its Really mind boggling.

going to work today, the fuel stations are empty

cars are already parked in long queues

and its raining mighty in lagos

Which tanker driver would want to even move.

God help us, atleast when this subsidy comes through some tempers may fall.
Re: Diesel To Be Subsidized by texazzpete(m): 9:37am On Jul 14, 2008
Still trying to get over the shock of seeing Gamine in the Politics section. . . grin
Re: Diesel To Be Subsidized by texazzpete(m): 9:40am On Jul 14, 2008
Queues in Port Harcourt are long. . .where you can see fuel. I had to drive a long way to get fuel to buy at N95 per litre. I was complaining about that, until i heard people bought at N120 later in the day.

perhaps this also has to do with the proposed strike by NUPENG (which has now been cancelled). I'm pretty sure these guys have been hoarding fuel.

C'est la Vie. Nigeria's a nation of animals and traitors. Traitors like the DPR that can't be arsed to prevent us being ripped off by these fuel marketers.
Re: Diesel To Be Subsidized by Gamine(f): 9:47am On Jul 14, 2008
Texazz, wink

You people talk too much on this politics section jo tongue

NUPENG Stroke, abi striked. whicheva!

The Tanker Drivers refused to load any product.

But the strike will be off now that the Government has decided to finally subsidize Diesel.

The subsidy may seem great, but it will cause wahala in the long run.
Re: Diesel To Be Subsidized by debosky(m): 6:04pm On Jul 14, 2008
@ TP

when did you relocate to PH??

I still hear no news of a diesel subsidy; the government lacks willpower to do anything right now - the lack of activity by government is simply mind boggling. No power, no refineries, no roads. . . . yet budgets keep being passed and money disbursed. undecided
Re: Diesel To Be Subsidized by Gamine(f): 10:13am On Jul 15, 2008
TP has always bin in PH.

Just wait, you will hear the news.
if not NUPENG would have kept on its strike
