Delusion at its best. What group is this ICIR The question this madman should answer, what in Jigawa belongs to Delta or Bayelsa.

^^^That was the part that got me fuming! Anyway, the jokes on my Ijaw brethren in particular, and southern Nigerian elite in general!

Imagine the fool saying that it's God that brought us together! Since when did Lugard equate to God?

We can all be laughing about this now, but this man is speaking the minds of the core northern elite! They fought a war and spilt blood, not b'cos they love to share the same country with those 'pesky infidels' down south.......but b'cos of oyel!

Sincerely, this oil issue has been turned to curse for Nigeria. In the real sense of it, the oil suppose to be a blessing, but unfortunately, it's not any longer, it's turned to curse, example is the above video scenerio.
May God help our nation!

What's wrong with what he said?

As at today, there is nothing like resource control by the federating units

He's made a valid point and he also admitted that he's not afraid if Nigeria divides but we must sit to discuss

The oil in Bayelsa belongs to Nigeria, which Jigawa is currently a part

Until this not the case, the oil in Ijawland belongs to Jigawa like he said

I can clearly see Now that The unity of Nigeria Is based on the oil and nothing more. Had it been this oil is at the north who knows what our situations would have look like. Maybe by now many of us would have been watchmen for northerners. But it's so unforturnate God ways are quite different from ours dats why he choses the south .

That's why I don't enjoy discussions with people who are more emotional than rational

Baylesa doesn't control its resources, the FG does

So what he's said, if you didn't view the video, is that the oil belongs to Nigeria and in essence Jigawa and every other state

He also said the resources in Jigawa belongs to Bayelsa

Until states begin to control their resources or Nigeria divides, what this man has said is correct

However, personally I would suggest a regional system of government where all states control their resources so the oil in Bayelsa will truly belong to Baylesa but as it is today, that's not the case

I'll agree with him if he tells me one thing from Jigawa that belongs to Bayelsa...one useful thing. I always wonder when resource control will take effect in Nigeria. Because each state needs to be forced to develop it's economy instead of feeding off the suffering of other like parasites.

My views:

1) He is right. The oil in Bayelsa is mined by the Federal Government. Legally, only the Federal Government can issue licenses to mine the oil and only the Federal Government can allocate oil blocks. The Bayelsa State Government is entitled to a mere 13% of the revenue accrued from the sale of oil that's mined in its territory. The Federal Government can use the revenue that's derived from oil that's mined in Bayelsa to develop infrastructure in Jigawa. Jigawa State also receives a share of funds that's in the Federation Account. Over 90% of these funds are derived from the sale of crude oil (including oil found in Bayelsa). Therefore, Jigawa has a share and an interest in Bayelsa oil. However, there's a bigger question.

2) The questions are: is this fair? Is this right? I believe that, in a fair system, the oil should belong to the individual that owns the land. That individual will only pay tax and that tax would be shared by the local, state and federal governments.

The guy said some things which are true to all fair observers. As far as things stay the way they are (about Nigerian structure) he is 100% correct.

What I found funny though is where he acknowledged that he is Fulani, and that Fulani are different from Yoruba, and Ijaw, but that GOD has joined us together and we must try to live together.
The question I want to ask him is this: HAS THE FULANI TRIED TO LIVE IN PEACE WITH OTHER NIGERIANS? If the answer is affirmative, why are we always reading news about Fulani killing people all over Nigeria, from far North to far South?
Methinks he is being clever by half and saying convenient truth.

Until people in the south learn to call the bluff (and even laugh in their faces) of the core North about war over self determination issues, these threats of war will never cease.

I was watching a TV program where international experts were discussing current national borders of countries. The one thing I took out of it is that GONE ARE THE DAYS WHEN FORCED UNITY CAN HAPPEN.
In today's world with information flowing freely across the web and private media houses flourishing, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO IMPOSE UNITY IN ANY NATION. The only way unity can happen and endure is through consensus and agreements, not by force of arms, because EVERYBODY CAN ACCESS ARMS THESE DAYS.
The man may still be living in 1967.

I will open another thread to discuss the only way that Nigeria can divide. cool
