Nollywood is improving!

No no no...this observation is not primarily about Nollywood, its about Saidi Balogun.

But before I narrate my short observation about the seasoned "Yoruba" actor, I wish to appreciate how much Nollywood has improved in recent times.
Given the very bad production, predictable screem play and very talentless actors...I'm the last person you will find seeing a Nollywood movie except a couple of movies that have Nkem Owoh (Osuofia), John Okafor (Ibu), Chiwetalu Agu, Patience Ozokwor and Saidi featuring in it. But seeing a movie right now on AFriMagic Ent. got me smiling. Maybe the movie made a difference to me cos it was produced by African Magic...not our usual cut and join producers in Alaba, Aba and Osha.

The name of the movie is "This House is not for sale". It featured Saidi Balogun, Ufuoma Emenabor and a couple of talented actors. The production, story line and directing was something one could relate to. I couldn't believe I sat and sat saw the movie from start to end.
The journey has begun! They started with Tinsel (I don't watch it cos I feel the storyline has no intrigues), now they are here with well scripted dramas that could go very international!

African Magic may have taken this step cos of folks like Emeka Ike who has from day informed Nollywood producers never to sell their work too cheap to AfricanMagic. I agree with him...tho one may ask how much intellect, human and financial resources the producers are investing in the first place.

Let's leave this Nollywood matter for another day. Tonight, I wish to appreciate my Nollywood/Yoruba favorite actor in in his excellent role in "This house is not for sale". Dude has improved over the years. Unlike his near predictable previous performances, he was so professional in this movie.

Or maybe I liked this guy as a Yoruwood actor or just cos of how sweet he was with his wife Fathia Balogun.

Whatever it is, Nollywood and Saidi Balogun seem to have improve tremendously. I'm impressed!
