Hello nairalanders, I will like to know how much it will cost me to get an international passport.Also if there is any agent here in the bizness to tell me things to be done to get one.I reside in Abuja.please any suggestion will be appreciated.

Getting the new e-passport is as easy as ABC.
If you need to get it fast and withoutstress, you will pay 20k to an oga at passport office telling him/her you need the thing urgently. You go to his/her office early with 2 passport fotos, fill some forms or give the person the details to fill in for you. you wait a while, they call you in to take yur picture, thumprint and signature and dass all. come back in 3 days time to pick yur P.

Or you want to go thru due process, you pay the official 8,750 naira, fill the forms and yu are told wen to return for yur pic et'al after which yu r told wen to come for pick up. all in all could take as little as 6weeks to max 12 weeks.
Thats how we do it here in lagos city, don't know if samemu ni in abj

I will like if anybody here can help me with some information on the new Nigerian E-passport.I am schooling here in Europe and lost my Nigerian passport (the former passport),when I contacted the Nigerian embassy here they told me that they do not yet have the facilities for issuing the E-passport,therefore I have to go back to Nigeria with a Travelling documents which they promise to give to me in order to be able to obtain the passport in Nigeria.
My questions are now these;
If I am issued a new E-paspport,will it have the same passport number as the old passport I was using before,I still have photopy of the information page of the lost passport. the reason why I am concerned about this is that my residence permit is in form of a paper which I hold and not a sticker in my passport,this permit carries my photo and my lost passport’s number and with It i can travel in and out of the country at will. but if I get a new e-passport with a different number I fear that I might not be allowed into the country with this particular residence permit.

   Even if your new E-passport would have a different number, you can have an authentic declaration that the previous one (which has the documented number) is lost: By request, a declaration can also be pen-written and stamped on the 2nd page of your new E-passport, it would be addressed thus: "This is to certify that this passport is a replacement of the passport with number the ******** which has been declared missing"

Wallace79, you may want to check with the internal affairs department of your country of residence if you will be re-admitted with a new passport. Your new passport will definitely not have the same number as the old one, though like vvvjustice said, the passport number of the old one may be noted in the observation page of your new passport.

Thank you very much vvvjustice and wallace79.Your advices are highly appreciated,i just confirmed from the internal affairs department through the international department of my school what i should do and i learnt that i might have a problem while coming in back again,i learnt that the simplest way will be to obtain a new entrace visa in my new passport from the embassy in Nigeria while coming back,my school will however give me an invitation and a letter of support but i really wanna avoid going back to Nigeria and get hooked.it is really a sad thing that Nigerian embassy cannot issue passports,they said that their machine has broken down since last year,it would have been as simple as ABC.I am really confused
