I chew gum once in a while in Church. One time my friend told me I claim I love God and I chew gum in Church? I was mad at her for making such comments. It doesn't change me love for him. At times I chew so I won't sleep if the sermon gets a little boring and at times to keep my mouth moving thus preventing odour (the general excuse). And in some places, the ushers tell you to dispose it. What's your take on this? |

In the presence of a political leader will you eat during a meeting?my guess is no, unless of course it is a lunch break;how much more the creator of the heavens and the earth. So is God's presence in church that boring that you have to chew gum to pass time? |

I don't think chewing gum is wrong Why do people keep making these riduculous assumptions? Sometimes, as you say, the service or sermon gets boring, and my salvation is gum. But gum is not needed when the service is filled with Gods prescence. |

It is a matter of self convictions and dealings with the Holy Spirit. Chewing gum is not wrong. But we are to honour God. And this could be one of the little ways we can do this. Like some one noted, rarely will anyone chew gum before a governor, boss, etc. It's not a matter of chewing it to pass time. If we permit this, then some one could say that playing mobile games is a way of passing time. We must learn to discipline ourselves to have a spirit of reverence before God. My bottom line is, it is not wrong. It could be dependent on the dealings of the Spirit with you. The moment will come that your consecration will naturally terminate this. 1 Like |
