Note that the person that you are going to give the work knows about WordPress theme development and design. I wouldn't recommend that you make changes to the style.css file directly as any time the theme is updated the changes are lost. The best thing would be to create a child theme that is based on the current theme.

Don't mind me though am also interested, but you need to be specific as to what changes that you want to be done to the site.

If you are not satisfied with the theme go and download another...you should have said this in the first place that it was a wordpress.. Its a tedious task

Tedious to work on the CSS of wordpress theme?You must be joking as I even did some modifications on it yesternight changing colours and some other things via the style.css file and I should have just perfected everything myself but I want a professional touch.

Not that I'm not satisfied with the theme but I want it to have a stunning look and moreover,I bought the theme for $59.9 and it is not free but a premium.

Considering this is WP, IMHO, it makes sense to work within the WP framework. Sure, you can directly manipulate the style.css but as someone has mentioned (and I am in no way a WP expert), if the current theme is updated in the future and you grab that, you lose all the work you have done.

The best approach here, IMHO, is to go with a new theme, be it a theme you purchase or download for free, or a theme that a developer does for you. Worse case, they clone what you have now and rework the CSS to give you what you want but again, tis best, IMHO, to work from a new theme.

As yawa-ti-de mentioned earlier going with a custom built theme will be perfect. But as you said you invested $59.9 into getting the new theme, not using it will be a waste of money

2) $60 might seem like a huge investment now but that could easily triple when you consider the time spent to customize the one file. Always look at and consider time spent as well. Time is money. Spending another $60 to buy a top quality theme or even paying a developer more than that to develop something good might end up being the cheapest alternative in the long run. Just my humble opinion

sure nd most themes comes with a documentation. every style u ever need 2 change can be done in d theme option from wp-admin (d site back end). u shuld b able 2 change anytin without touching d codes, dats wat a cms is all about. if u still nid 2 do heavy customization eg. add nd remove functions, dats wen u create a child theme (so dat ur next upgrade won't affect ur changes).

Like I said earlier code from scratch or customize the existing one. But I will recommend coding from scratch as you are assured that the theme is your property and won't be found being used on another site.

What properties are currently embedded in the present theme that can't be added to the new theme that will be designed.?
As regards customizing the new theme, make sure the customization is done in a child theme, this way you won't lose any changes anytime the parent theme is customized.

cbrass How long does it take you to code a new theme from scratch? Most themes nowadays are bloated with a lot of options and features. But a theme that will be designed based on the requirements of a client will be easier and faster to work on than customizing another one.

This is my opinion though but as we all know opinions will always vary.

When you make use of joomla,wp,blogger,phpbb etc u talk about themes , in other words this themes are website templates when you are self hosting. Just designing a simple website template will take you atleast 5weeks(excluding development) now imagine a theme that needs to be designed and also developed either with php or asp. And so many functions here and there. A client once asked me to help her customise a wp-theme she downloaded but wants to use it on ( can u imagine)..so many folders, the lib folder sef heavy no be small, so coding from scratch will take more time

What you are saying is that if the customer wants red font on a black background because that is what they want, you will still do it, right? I beg to differ. If a medical doctor says you need 3 tablets of fansidar and you say you actually need 2, you think say doctor go gree? Or is it because we are "common designer" and many of us are willing to charge 15K per job?

We are not code monkeys. We are consultants and professionals. You don't just take the first thing the customer says and run with it. If it doesn't make sense, you tell them why in your professional opinion something is wrong and offer alternatives. If you feel that strongly about it, be willing to walk away from the job. Money isn't everything. Integrity, reputation and your name are. If you don't feel that strongly about it, make sure you charge extra for it, due to the extra time involved (in this case). Again, if you can't come to terms, respectfully walk away. I bet you will get more respect that way and chances are that if the client can't find another person, they will come back to you asking you to implement it your way.

I think it is high time we let clients know that we are professionals and not people willing to do anything for 15K

Lol...you are very right, its just that ist hard to be a freelancer, what have decided now is I will get a client a ready made template or they go and find the one that soothes them while I will do only the developing. Nigerians are just too difficult to deal with especialy the females( they keep asking you to change a section of the site repeatedly with no meaniful reason- just trying to copy their friends site)

But as you know the web design industry in Nigeria is something else entirely.
But one's integrity, reputation and name have to safeguarded.

I've just concluded to use the site that way as I finally decide or design another site for a new concept building the theme from scratch.

great and how did you get the site theme information?Via the source code?If not,how and can you also kindly analyse the information of the joomla theme used for conimo.info and get us informed.
