ok. But a question arises for "yet to decide" Students:> is screen size really an option to consider while choosing a tablet for school? Or the OS Matters?

The screen size matters. The OS doesn't matter much.

A screen size of 10" is probably the best. I also recommend Android OS which to me has a lot of developers compared to other leading OS.

is 10" not rather too much? For me i'll go for an 8-8.3" inch android, where I can easily transfer files from my android phone to the tablet. Even though 9.7" tabs exist o. But If I may ask why do you think 10" is Ideal?

a 7.9 inch to 8.3 inch tablet to me is ideal. if you are to hold it for extended periods(around campus) considering the weight. it also helps when you are reading ebooks and magazines. the bottom line is get a 7.9 inch tablet out an 8 inch.

check the reviews gotten from the iPad mini 7.9 . the smaller the tablet the more the convenience.

Reading, typing e.t.c as a student, you have to be as comfortable as possible. 8.0" is not bad too.

thats why I suggested a 7.9-8.3 inch.

A laptop is all you need. After all, most of these other devices still need to be tethered to a laptop one way or the other.

A laptop is surely the best, but the topic is about tablets.

am yet to try this Am saying maybe I'll give it a try but I'll dish out my mind then you guys can go for an experiment. Can't it work this Way.' you have a friend who has a laptop can't you tether your blackberry device using a cable to his laptop and open the wifi of the PC I don't know if it's possible but I'll give it a try. WHOEVER that has tried it can also confirm if it does or not.

sounds ok, but I have an android device with which I can share files. And more over I heard of etisalat BIS working , even though it's not ,my Mtn night plan still rocks.

Ipad Mini is nice with 7.9 but an android OS will be better for convenience in sharing files. Apps and games. Thinking of LG Gpad 8.3" no Gsm capabilities. Always tethering will drain battery like water. Guess tab 3 8.0 will be somehow ok or any other.
Re: by psalmdave(m): 9:32am On Dec 07, 2013
8.0 should be okay.....but as pointed earlier a laptop is better,at least for a student,its a fact
Re: by Randerl: 9:43am On Dec 07, 2013
Battery backup, apps, weight and ease of use are the deciding parameters here.

hmmmm? But portability is my problem. And security, loosing a tab is more lesser than a full laptop it's heart tearinng
