.... "Straight to King's place right?" Ronke smiled.

Each lady exchanged the piece of paper they've written a letter of breaking up in. All smiling happily.


'This will surely work!' Folawe grinned and carried her handbag.


"Heart attack on point!" Fiyin shouted and all laughed out.


"I'm sure Durodola will be the first to get that." ... Folawe said.


"You aren't serious, I knew it, you'd be the person to talk." Fiyin chuckled.


'You guys should act fast and let's throw this bomb!' Sayo laughed.


"They don't have a choice." Ronke shrugged.


Folawe smiled continuously. "This is gonna be great."


Fiyin sat down.


"Girls, let's get going, don't sit again now." Ronke shouted.


"Wait girls, do you think this won't put us into trouble?" Folawe questioned.



"What trouble again? Its just for fun, they won't want to end up in hell now." Ronke said from behind.



"Either hell or not, let's be fast. We should set the time we must all return here sef. I've not eaten now." Ronke complained.


"Wait take it easy lady. Whose letter is even with you?" Fiyin stood up adjusting her pink trouser.


"Yours of course." She smiled.



"Now that you're hungry, don't eat it on the way oh!" The all laughed.

*ONE*



FIDELITY HOSTEL, comprises of two buildings of each with four floors. The left one comprises of males while the right one comprises of females. Each floor with six rooms and four students inside each room. Everything, made to suite enjoyment for them all. Several tanks for water and bore holes as sources of water for them. A well-known hostel that has never ran out water.


Each room with two ceiling fans and each student on a comfortable mattress. The hostel was built in between two hostels, the left one is the female hostel while the second is for the male. All built in FILEDITY UNIVERSITY.


Each floor of the building has a name given. The floor was interlocked and the hostel, mighty.

"It has started again! This time around, na one thousand naira Mike drop oh!" Durodola shouted from the window at his room mates, "RUMMIES" as they usually term it.


"Arm wrestling?" Temitope was attracted because of the involvement of money he heard.


'Sure now. What else do you think he'll bet his money on?" Duro laughed.


Temitayo stood at once. "Let's go straight there." He uttered.


..."Oh boy, you better take am easy. Folawe still needs the hand oh!".. Philip shouted at him as he was rushing out.


"My man, don't worry. God is with me." He smiled and walked out of the room with Tope and Duro.


"You guys should wait oh! Don't be faster than your shadows." Tope shouted pulling Duro and Temitayo back through their collars.


"Man! Wetin!" Duro complained.


"Take it easy now. I came to call you so I know more than you. There aren't at MZ (mark zone- a floor in boys' hostel.)"


"Off to where now?" Duro faced him.


"Fide field." He smiled and pushed them forward.

The four girls were in their room including Mary, Ronke's friend from the females' hostel beside Fidelity Hostel. Ronke was in cooking noodles to serve to her friend that came to greet her.


"When will you start going to the hall, Fola?" Sayo tapped her by her hand as she laid on her mattress dozing off.


She opened her eyes at once, stretched her body and sat on the bed using her left hand to clear her face. "Thanks jere Sayo." She voiced out and stood up.


Fiyin and Sayo were on the mat place at the middle of the room playing cards.


"Is my noodles there?" Fola teased as she carried the box of her saxophone.


"Come steal am." Ronke replied jokingly.


She got ready for the practice class. Folawe is into MUSIC as a course in Fidelity University. Her parents loved music before their death, she thought that will be the easiest way of remembering them. She lost her parents to a gunshot. They were double crossed on the road by some thieves who took the large amount of money and wasted them.



She carried the saxophone box and the image of her mother came to her remembrance. She closed her eyes for moment and adjusted her pink short sleeve dress. She walked to the shoe-rack and got her pink sandal. Off to the hall.

Fidelity Field, popularly called "FIDE FIELD" was filled with many guys competing for Mike's one thousand naira note. He loves arm wrestling and no one has ever won the guy. He bet his money on it so that people will be able to come and compete with him.


Temitayo and his two friends got there and stood by a side staring at the way Tony was thrashing all the guys that has been wrestling with him.


"How much you get for hand?" Temitayo faced Duro.


Durodola changed his face staring at him. "I came here to watch, I won't do this now. We know if not for Folawe, we might have gone hungry. So why are we going to bet one thousand naira because of this. Let's keep on watching." He uttered.



"I've never wrestled with him and you know I'm tough too. Just lend me, I'm sure I'll win him." He smiled.


"Ooh boy.. This guy is a demon. You can't thrash him." Temitope said.


..."No! Don't think like that. Don't worry, I'll use the last one thousand naira on me to do this." He uttered and moved forward for the betting.

He went ahead for the bet and the competition started for real. "I no fir loose ma money for this guy!" He was thinking and using all his strength to get him down.


Folawe was on her way to the hall then. "Why are may people on this field today when Fidelity hostel isn't playing match with brimestone today." She shrugged and walked on. On the second look to the field, she was hearing people shouting her name. She turned properly to see what was on. They were using her name to cheer Temitayo on so as to win Mike.



At last, Temitayo won Mike and collected his one thousand naira. On his turning back to the hostel, he saw Folawe staring at him closely. "What was that for?" She asked.


The three guys looked at one another. "We came here to play." He quickly replied.


"Play.. Gamble." She said and turned angrily.


"Em.. Fola!" He shouted.


She didn't answer and headed to the hall for the practice.

Folawe got back to her father's apartment. She lives with her blind Grandma in a well-built bungalow. She had been living with her since her parents were killed by God knows. It was on friday, after she left the lecture room she went home to greet her, its been a while.


Its been her father's best friend, Olawale that has been sending her money and everything she needs since her parents died. She went into music because her parents loved music so much before they died, if that's the only way I'll be able to forever remember them, its okay. She'd always thought.


The Grandma has Oyinkan as her house maid who helps her in everything she needs in the house. She's humble despite her condition of no eyes. Her illness brought Folawe home to come and assist her since they were already in a week end.


She rushed out of the house to quickly get her some drugs when she got home and met her boiling. "I can't afford to loose this grandma now!" She got to the pharmacy shop and got some antibiotics and other malaria drugs for her. She was rushing back when she mistakenly hit a little girl, Pemisire.



She dropped the nylon bag that contained the drugs and assisted her up. She was beside her father who brought her to get some paracetamol tablets for her, she was also somehow ill. She rose her up and looked her, her tounge, somehow rolled. The young girl couldn't talk properly and was dropping saliva from her mouth. She looked like a dummy.


"I'm so sorry, just rushing to get something over." She apologized to the young man and the little girl.


"That's alright. Human are bound to make mistakes." The man, also by the name, Tayo replied her.


"Sorry beautiful girl." She held her shoulders.


The young girl smiled. "You are beautiful, let me your daughter." She uttered.


"Daughter?" Fola repeated and smiled.


"Don't mind her.." The man replied smiling at her. "She's really beautiful too." He thought.

Folawe departed immediately so as to administer the drugs on her grandmother. She was at home throughout that friday because of her, she was desperate about taking care of anyone close to her and had always thought of serious investigations about the death of her parents.


08:12 pm...



She entered her room after checking on the grandma's to know the status of her health. She changed to her night wears. Laid on her bed online on whatsapp, chatting with her room mates. They had a group that on whatsapp where they all chat together if they are on break or if someone is absent like she was.


They all chatted for quite some hours about the school and how boring the house is.


Temitayo beeped her when she was about going offline and trying to say 'bye' to the discussions of that day.


"I'm sorry about earlier." He wrote to her.


Different thoughts started flowing through her mind. "What did he do?" She was about to ask him with his sin before she remembered that he was gambling.


"About that? Forget that. I'm in the city now, came to check on my sick Grandma."


"Never knew that."


"It was urgent, so that's why I couldn't call or beep you. Really tired, talk to you tomorrow."


She went offline immediately after typing the last message. Her squeezed her eyes for some seconds, she had been chatting for a while no. "I have to reduce the intensity of this backlight." She thought in her.

SATURDAY...



Olutayo was with his daughter in the living room that early morning, playing with her. Funto, his wife came out angrily. "We have some issues to thrash."


Olutayo glimpsed at her. "Issues to thrash.. Not even an issue." He thought within him.


"Okay, I'm all ears. Let's start the thrashing." He smiled briefly.


"This won't be here when we want to discuss it." She pointed at Pemisire that was on her father's laps.


"I've always told you not to address to my daughter as "this" don't pull the tail of the lion!" He shouted.


"Why won't I address her as THIS? She should be addressed that way now. Everyone I've always known, do they look like her, a real dummy!"


"Are you out of your mind woman!" He shouted angrily, his eyes were already turning red. "Please dear, go to the room and sit. Promise dad you won't play rough." He smiled at her and pecked her.


"I've told you to let's go and drop her in a Motherless Babies home and move on with our lives."


"And I've never agreed, why this sudden problem!"


"You said when she clocks two years of age." She replied with an annoying voice.


Daniel stood up at her. "She clocks two years today but you've not wished her happy birthday, rather you do things that is unappealing and annoying! I just said that to push you forward, she's my daughter and I can go to any length to make her someone in life!"


"You'll have to choose someone between one of us. I'm too young to be carrying a dummy around."
