In the history of nigeria no govt era has ever being faced whit much criticism like mr jona era why is it so? Mr jona era has being criticised by press(punch,sahara reporter,vanguard....),media(tv and radio station),social network users( nairaland,facebook,twitter,bloggers...)both internally and externally. MY VIEW IS THAT: nigerians are no longer gullible the level exposure and enlightenment in nigeria is growing at a very fast rate. gone are those days when public policy are implemented without constructive consultation on public view on the issue before final decision is taken. Though I staunchly believe that mr jona era is not the worst era nigeria has ever had,it is even among the best era in the history of nigeria govt (reason: the best thing is always followed by high level of criticism) to me I think the worst era nigeria had was during the military era. I really like the way things are going now because nigerians are not fools anymore. So nairalander what's your view on why mr jona era is the most criticised govt era in nigeria history?

Because his govt is igbo leaning. He is not Yoruba or Hausa/Fulani. Enugu has an international airport, the 2NB is in view. The vultures that have held the nation hostage for over 40 years have been shortchanged. That's why.

The main reason is civilization and technology. Even primary skul pupils nw read nd hear what is goin on in the nation's politics through social medias nd cable tv's. So ppl must just talk since everybody wil be comparin our leaders wit other developed countries in d world. The flop of any administratn is easily unveiled compared to when ppl jst read papers nd listenin to concorted news on tv nd radio

It is because he no longer gives the likes of Obasanjo their monthly cut from the national treasury.
Anyone that thinks Obasanjo, who ruled Nigeria for a total of 11 years and did absolutely nothing is criticising Nigeria because of his love for the masses is............I lack words to describe such a person.

Freedom of Information bill. Now Nigerians know where the money in Nigeria is going and coming and thus media outlets can write about it and mobilize Nigerians

Fair and Free elections. Not the opposition is louder and stronger because they've been given room to breath and thus the political climate is more noisy

Tribalism. GEJ is from a part of the country that another part of the country (two parts) are trying to, by force, turn into a slave or servant underclass in the country and thus people from his part don't 'deserve' the presidency, because it goes against their plan to 'rule' and be the 'vice rule' for ever. They don't understand that in other countries when one group tries to do this, it's the most educated, most technologically developed and most wealthy portion of the country that oppresses the poor and ignorant. It is absolutely, and completely impossible for illiterates to lord over a group of literates for too long. The literate and capable group will find a way out of if because someone in primary can never be the oga of someone in a university no matter how clever the primary person is in. They aren't even using the real and actual methods of oppression and domination more capable people have developed and mastered and this is why the people that are supposed to be oppressed now control the oil, import, export, banking sector, manufacturing base, economic activity of ever city in the country. This is why the oppressor group pays rent to the oppressed group and the oppressed group has never tasted the poverty of the oppressor group. The dominate 'group' will dominate regardless because it's inevitable, you can't pretend to be a dominate group or force it where it doesn't exist.

Development. Nigeria is more advanced than it ever has been. People have access to information, and it spreads fast. When I lived in Nigeria as early as the 90s. The most common form of communication was sending a girl on a message lol. Now information spreads at the blink of an eye. People are more aware, less tolerant of mismanagement and feel more empowered. This generation that's criticizing the president doesn't remember life under abacha when doing such a thing came at a risk. These are all great developments.

Up until 2012, MOST Nigerians barely heard of the name Ijaw. The few that heard thot it was a small pressure group in far away Cameroon.

Of course, they are other reasons like fast and affordable mode of information, cool headedness, FOI law etc.

But the koko is that the Bayelsan dude is a "Nobody", a minority. We, Nigerians have never been used to such people giving us orders.
