I was discussing this evening, with a male friend of mine who broached the issue of the most suitable period a man must have courted a lady before walking down the aisle with her. He said most young ladies will feel two or three years seem quite okay while older ones wont mind a courtship period of 6months and i felt it is not so as marriage isn't a child's play and hence should not be rushed into. I don't think there's any statutory number of years that a person must court for....nowadays the length/duration of courtship is largely peculiar to the two people involved.Personally i would have suggested that 3years/4years is a fair enough period for courtship,but I wont expect this to be fair to a 33year old lady who already thinks her chances of ever getting married are as good as a lion becoming a vegan....Then ofcourse there's the issue of emotional and financial maturity,two things that I think should be in place before the "let's pick a wedding date" talk. So in essence,we shouldn't use others as yardstick.Just go with whatever time your peace can accommodate. 2 Likes |

Never dated and we have been married with children and still in love for yrs. When God is involved, number of yrs does not matter. People can date for 10 and separate once they get married. 1 Like |

"No soon is too soon". It is subjective. It depends on the dating couple. There's no specific amount of time. Some court for few months, some, for many years. Some, for few weeks. Just follow your heart, it should between the two lovers especially the man since he'll be the one to propose |

By 6 months I would have stress you enough to know you really well so from 6 months anytime we have enough resources, there shouldn't be any delay |
