Any keen political observer would agree that the body languages of known coup plotters in Nigeria in the past few weeks indicate that something is going on behind closed doors. I would like to believe that those known coup plotters are only delusional to think that they will EVER again be allowed to dictate the fate of millions of Africans in their own land.
So, they can be carelessly led to believe that they can come back to relevance; it changes nothing on the ground! They will soon learn that Nigeria is not the land, and that the peoples that make up Nigeria will NEVER AGAIN allow them to dictate their futures.
I have always maintained that Nigeria is NOT the LAND, but the PEOPLE living there. Already, a sizable chunk of Nigerians are tired of the Nigerian experiment and want to end it. All they need is a very good reason to end it... like a coup.

My point exactly. Jonathan has succeeded in pushing these people outside the corridors of any form of power. That's why they keep wailing and writing letters like teenage boys who want to profess their love for a girl. I must commend the resolve by Jonathan to make these monsters and enemies of the nation irrelevant in the political space. No atom of intimidation should be tolerated. The next step is for Jonathan to start arresting people who make statements that can bring disunity onto the country. I see no reason why the likes of Obasanjo and IBB should not be tried at the Hague for crimes against humanity. It's only in Nigeria that people like these have the effrontery to show their ugly faces in public without being escorted to the gallows where they'll be shot with their mouths open for the crime that they have committed against the Nigerian people.

Abacha's mistake cost him his life. If Obasanjo had plotted his coups against Babangida, all convicted coups plotters would have been executed few hours after sentencing. Only God knows how Nigerians will feel if Obasanjo is CAUGHT PLOTTING to overthrow the Govt again.
And Obasanjo is already trying to deflect attention from himself and his gang by claiming that 1000 people are under watch. Aren't they supposed to be?

Have you forgotten we have a democratic government? I am surprised at you for having the audacity to recommend for certain people to be escorted to the gallows for execution. I hope Jonathan listens to your advise if he's on nairanland. I can guarantee you that your people in the North are the ones to face the repercussion of such action. How dare you recommend people be arrested for making statement against the government of the day? Are we back to Abacha days where many people were picked up for venting their opposition to military rule? Where were you when the same people who are now termed as "enemies of the government" were fighting for Jonathan to take the rein of the presidency?

I have never seen a mod so deep in tribal politics like you.

Is this the reason why he wont fight corruption, why he wont stop oil theft, why he wont stop hiring crooks under efcc investigation to fill top government positions, why he handed over the country's maritime security to a terrorists, why subsidy fraud people are not in jail, why pension fraud people are still walking around spending their loot, why nnpc is defrauding the people of Nigeria, why he sat unconcerned while oduah swindle us in broad daylight? And the list goes on and on?

Blaming other people for his incompetency is not working anymore, that game is over and overplayed, the county is ready for action and if he can not show us any action, he must go.

That's got to be the most ignorant and anti democratic rubbish ever, but if possible, the dullard should go ahead and arrest himself because he is the main agent of dis unification in Nigeria with his open display of tribalism and ethnic preference...

The Op is spot on.

A little spark is needed to ignite the fodders. The loud mouthed ones have been shouting atop their voice for how long now, and have written 18 pages epistle yet no one pay them mind. Perhaps it time to put their money where their mouth is, or forever remain 'cowards'.

Not surprising the cowardly easterners are the ones spearheading this romour of coup! When the going gets tough, they are always quick to run to the united nations crying foul.

How about you people telling GEJ to man up and be a commander in chief for the first time He has assumed the responsibility of a President and get a grip with governing Nigeria rightly?

Whilst I would not want GEJ to be impeached or His tenure terminated, if this ever happens, let it be known to my fellow South South brothers that we had our chance, we blew it with a fellow that knows not His left from right, despite all the prayers and good will.

Like so many die hard supporters of Jonathan on these boards, you've just demonstrated an intolerance for dissenting opinion.

In a different environment, on the strength of that post alone, your ability to continue moderating in a non-bias fashion will be called into question.

Should we rather reason like Buhari who decreed that dogs & baboon will be bloodied, that is, after his followers MASSACRED harmless Youth Corps members that came to develop their backward villages?
Or the reckless Obj that is a disaster to his region, or still, the one that sold Lagos state to himself. Eh. . . What's his name?

(1) That I regularly criticize Jonathan's failings does not make me an APC supporter.
Furthermore, it is banal and simplistic, as George Bush learnt after taking his "axis of evil stance", to assume that there are only two sides to any argument.

(2) Afam is a mod, I am not. I should also make it clear that had his post being made at any other time, before now, I might have put those remarks down to overexhuberance.

No atom of intimidation should be tolerated. The next step is for Jonathan to start arresting people who make statements that can bring disunity onto the country.

I dare say I am learning more and more about Nigerians on these boards.

Seriously dude!!! You think some people hold a monopoly over violence? BTW any killings in the north will affect all sourtherners living there be it yoruba, igbo or SS.The illiterate almajiris who perpetrate violence do not know Buhari and Tinubu are in alliance.

But any hint or attempt to stage a coup will lead to unprecedented violence and destruction of oil installations in the Niger-delta.Any killings in the north will equally be replicated in the east. You fools should stop thinking you are still in 1966

Don't under rate Obasanjo; he wrote similar letter to Shehu Shagari shortly before Buhari overthrew that Govt. And aborted Shagari's efforts to complete the Ajaokuta Steel. The consequence is that Nigeria is still importing simple things like kitchen knives. And the all important farm cutlasses. Notice again that President Jonathan has completed the Rail Lines from Ajaokuta to the coast. Though Jonathan is not yet talking about what he's doing, if they overthrow him, it will be another 30 years of Obasanjo-style looting, before a new democratic structure to lead economic development.

Without fear of contradiction, I can boldly state that I have been consistently more opposed to Obasanjo and all he represents than you, Jonathan, and most of the johnny-come-later government apologists, during the course of my life.

That being said, what I read into the letter is an admonishment - nothing more.
It is certainly not too late for Jonathan to attend to some of the concerns raised, which would also endear him more to Nigerians of all shades and hue, in my opinion.

All the same, I respect your right to draw other inferences.

I didn't even know u you regularly criticize GEJ's failing. That's your prerogative. However, you called out only Jonathan's supporters of intolerance to dissenting views, does that not imply that APC supporters are tolerant of opposing views? If that is not the case, wouldn't it be fair to suggest you are taking sides? Does such suggestion mean you are an APC supporter, or is that the cap simply fit?

Afam is Mod, and Afam is Afam. Is there a rule that said that Mods should not express their views? Or if such views does not fit into your worldview it automatically make such Mod unworthy of being a Mod? But if Afam criticizes Jonathan, he becomes a good Mod?

When Jarus was a Mod, he created a Buhari support thread run-up to the last general election, heaven did not fall. Some of you guys think you are so smart, even when hypocrisy drips in every line you write.

The emboldened portion of your post is noted.
To be clear, I think there is a lot of intolerance on all sides of the divide.

While I understand that you are trying to widen the goalposts here, I must make it clear that my comments were quite specific - with respect to a single post made by Afam. The heavens don't need to fall, it was simply an observation.

Don't hide behind some nondescript veneer to throw cheap darts at an amorphous enemy. Who are the guys who think they are smart? Be specific.

It's clear to everyone how volatile the situation is. That's why I think they would not risk a coup. They wouldn't risk a war where they didn't have the legitimacy of Government, thereby becoming rebels and losing sympathy/recognition from the West. They've got too much to lose. Impeachment is the only option.
