Hope this is not just ONE room but a one bedroom flat or at least a self contained.
And, hope this is your money you are talking about not your parent's money.

250k is an outrageous amount to set up a room including rent? Excuse me wat part of the village do u live? I can assume the anger of your siblings if the money will be coming from your parents. But if you are gonna be coughing out that money yourself, u need to raise the bar cos 250k can't really do much.

It depends on a number of things:

Are going to furnish the room from scratch or u already have a few things?
Perhaps you have few things from school. Or there are some extra stuffs u can take from home

What is your taste?

What state and area are we talking about. Getting a decent place in a decent area in, for example, Lagos would cost more than say Oyo.

How financially bouyant are you?
It makes no sense to furnish ur room beautifully and be unable to afford three decent meals, have some guests over once in a while and cater for some other basic stuffs. If your parents are not sending you away, no need to rush out only to come back asking for financial help. I understand you want to b a man. Great! But it is very important that you have a steady income that can maintain your lifestyle. Make sure you have a reasonable job. The reason why I hammered on the final poiny is that I imagine that your folks are speaking based on their judgement on the size of your pocket. I belive they wouldn't see the amount too much if they are very sure you can comfortably afford it.

Having said all that, I really don't think 250k is too much an amount to spend on getting a decent room. As long as you can comfortably afford it and you are not smashing your piggy bank to scrape the last coins.

I hope this helps.

Ok let's say TV - 25 inch - 42 inch - 25 - 70k
Bed - 30k
Rough - 12k
Shelve - 10k
Home theatre - 20 - 40k
Iron - 2k
Fan - 3 - 10k
Kitchen utensils - 15k at max.

I would advise you to get atleast a room self contain. 1 room 1 kitchen 1 bath & toilet.
1 year let's say 100k

I think its not reasaonable to get 1 room and share toilets wit tenant and furnish d room everytin 250k.

If you have got high taste then you need to work on ur budget. You can still arrange ur room decently without much expenses. When u get more money u can upgrade.

I hope this helps.

My calculation is not accurate just a rough estimation.

Get a landed property with that money; you arent too young to start a building project since you now have a source of income. Postpone your decision to leave your parents if your work place is proximal to their house. You would be better for it 5 years from now.

All i see is someone in a hurry to have privacy to be Bleep pussy. take it slow bro you dont need to hurry. dont ever rent a single room you gonna regret it. Go for a flat when the time come insteand. I rented my first aparment with 250k the year 2008. Three bedroom flat and that was the rent fee. and i regreted it. Never rush in things having to do with start up a new private life and moving from your parent house. Wait a minute 500k can get you a land. And with 2m you can build 2bed room flat. When you start a life outside your parent its very difficult to plan future as monthly bis swallow up ur earnings. I made so many mistake in my past as i always rush in doing things, i dont take advice from any body and it land me inside pit. Buy now i would have gotting my own building but shame on me. so wise up bro.
