Advice On The Job To Take

My sister is confused and need advice on which job to take between a bank contract staff with salary of 68K or a full staff of a media organization with salary of 54K. Although I have advised her on which one to take, but she still want the general to contribute. 

Please help me advice her.

Ur sister has to consider balancing competing demands like cost of transport to work,cost of wardrobe and other things.
For me, a contract work with a bank doesnt appear to have enduring value compared to secure employment;even if the contract job is higher paying.
She also has to consider her future career goals;what does she want to do in future? what career path is she hoping to follow?
There are big career shoes to be filled nationwide and it is up to her to make her pick and take a path to follow.

Most Bank's contract work pays at the long run bt it differs with d bank sha. Which bank are u talkin about here? and also ur sister shld look at her career goals, where does she want to b in d nx 5years

I think the media organization will be a more interesting place to work.  A happy sister is a healthy sister.

depending on ur sister's career like others siad, she should view herself in 5 yrs time, then she will be able to decide which one to go for.

i agree with seun that working in the media is better.

The media has alotta costs to cover. It would be interesting but the pay might not

Dont let the salary fool you, bank job is hectic and as a contract staff apart from the lack of sense of belonging you wont have a future in that bank, I was a contract staff with access bank for almost two years with a salary of 76k but my stay there was the most miserable time I ever experienced,

Contract job is not worth it, I suggest you go for the media job, it pays in the long run, goodluck.

My dear,it all depends on what your sister want out of life,her career drive and personality.
I wont write off the bank offer as a contract staff, it might be her opportunity to penetrate the industry,gather experience and show case your self.
You can't hide a gold fish,once she is good and God is with her, it can be a stepping stone for her to be a staff very soon.
It worked for me and a few friends of mine,well some are still contract staff.
Personally I don't see any prospect in the media.
She might equally have a wonderful career there.
She should ask God for direction and weigh her options.

Lets be sincere here,bank might pay higher but one will seem to be overworking,meanwhile its just a contract not minding where they will dump her after some years,choosing the best career is more profitable,but if she really wants to associate herself with bank then she can go ahead but talking about the comfort and stress,i think Bank doesn't worth it even with the pay.

Contract job has no gaurantees and the benefits would be restricted if any is even offered, once the contract is done, done done in most cases!!

remember contract Job cld be terrible
the bank dessociates from whatever liability, God Forbid accidents etc
and you work and pursue targets as if you are a normal staff
apart from your having to brighten your wardrobe as if you are competing with their "real staff"

As many have said, she kwns best what career she wants to build for herself, but for records a lot of advertising agency's are doing far better than some banks, there is more in media to learn, i work in an advertising agency and so i understand better, Bank job is stressful and i kwn lots of pple who complain abt the stress that goes with the big money? wat does she want? career, big money or peace of mind?

14k difference for me is not so much to cry for, its better to have a job u call ur own than be on contract that 2m u mit be kicked out on low performance or target meeting, but in all its her choice and life, let her think well before she choose. Goodluck to her.

From a personal experience they owe salaries for months up to one year in some cases and they also fire staff at will. i have tasted d two sectors and i think i prefer the bankin sector at least while she is there she gets paid on time at least with that one she will be able to pay her bills and scout around well for better jobs. or how do u explain working and having to borrow to pay your transport fare.It is a terrible experience. Tell her to find out well about d organisation before accepting d offer. media jobs could be extremely furstrating and i know wat am talking about.A lot of those people u see looking gaily dressed on tv are actually suffering in silence.Many of them resort to cutting all kinds of corners to survive.In case of retrenchment u dont get any benefits so tell me is it worth it? As a contract staff in a bank who knows you might eventually get staffed. You might even get a permanent bank job with ur contract experience as banks recruit rergularly. you dont also get any benefits as a contract staff in case the contract is dissolved but at least u enjoy ur salary unlike d media dat is no salary upon possible retrenchment plus no gratuity. Be wise. I would really like to know the medium so i could advice better.I am not saying media jobs are not good they are and give you more time for urself but in this part of d world it is a disaaster as media employees suffer real pain. am not in a position to say which is better coz i dnt knw wat goes on in the media sector. but as for contract staff in d banking sector, i woudnt advice anyone into it especially if there is an option. it could be very frustrating as they use every means at their disposal to downgrade and humiliate u. there is no sense of belonging. av got the experience and am still experiencing it. just believing God that one day i'l get somtin better.

I myself was formerly a contract staff with UBA,before i got an offer as a full staff with a media house. i left immediatelly.since Then i have nerver regret.Its also good for married women,to enabling them to have time with their family

Well, this message might be coming at this time, l sincerely believe that Media Job will do her best than the Bank, forgeting the names, for the past 3 years l have being working for one company as contract, doing all my possible best to come of any given assignment as one of the best, then the promise of permanent staff came uptil now the Regional Manager we say whenever he visit you're the delaying your appointment later. l just share my own experience with you, please talk your sister in considering that Media will be a bit better for her.

Way back 2001, I had two offers STB and Media Job offer. Like all idealists, I took the media, to follow my passion. The end result, Idropped out my MMP Class at UI after working for four years because I was unable to pay my school fees (if ur sister will be doing brown envelopes, i mean collecting bribes, yeah, a media job can be more profitable than a banking job). That was the turning point for me, i resigned my appointment and now work for a financial services company. Never know what it meant to get salaries as at when due before now,

Can never go back to the media, never!
