i have booked an appointment for interview to get a student visa at the Us embassy and i feel scared cos i really dont know what to expect i have all my documents intact please nairalanders i need some helpful advice on what to take along and what to do before the day

Well, first thing to check, verify that the name on your visa appointment letter is an exact match with the name on your passport otherwise they won't even allow you inside the embassy.
since you said all your documents are intact, just stay relaxed, be calm and do not lie to the Visa Officer about anything. That doesnt mean you should go and say the reason you want to go and study is to get a job in america after graduation o.

1. What will you do after your programme
2. If you are married , what is your spouse doing at present and if you are not when will you marry.

It all depends on your documents and demeanor. Make sure you have your waec results and all that stuff with you. If your sponsor works for a reputable company (preferablly a U. S company), you are 95% there already. All they need is proof that you can afford to pay your tuition and that you have ties back home. If you have siblings in the US and you are the last one from your family, chances are that that they will deny you regardless of whatever you bring.
Just go there and answer any question they ask. It depends on the interviewer, if he/she feels you deserve entry then good for you.
I did mine a couple of years back and i was barely asked anything. My sponsor worked for one of the Major US companies at the time and i had a letterhead from the M.D in Nigeria. They know you'll tell them the regualar bullshit like - i will come back to work in nigeria, i won't work while in the u.s, blah blah blah.  Didn't we all say the same. I graduated a long time ago and behold, Yankee is still where i call home now, lol

Then i have heard of presenting SEVIS fee receipt at the embassy.I will like to know what this SEVIS fee is all about and how to get it.
