Wrong notion to base the Igbo language in Okrika on slavery. Okrika were originally peopled by Igbos before the Izon language came in, hence the reason why your people speak a transition language of Igbo/Okrika.

The Igbo language spoken should be strongly Aro based, Aro is a leading figure in Igboland. The language didn't come in by slavery.

Okrika did not even deal much on slaves because Bonny would not allow them and there was nothing they could do to change that. Bonny was too powerful. The Okrika were originally Igbo. Then the Ijaw came in later. Screenshot attached (from 1800s).

Ibime:
Ijaw has different dialects. Okrika is different from Kalabari which is different from Ibani. Western Ijaw is also different from Eastern Ijaw. It is just like Portuguese and Spanish. They understand each other but they cannot speak in the other tongue.


For example, for 'How are you', a Kalabari man would ask 'Tobra?' and you would answer 'Ibim' or 'Ibiwirere'  (I am good)

An Okrika man would ask 'Idanloku?' and you would answer 'Ibime'

Last paragraph, don't you read properly? I said Okrika were originally peopled by Igbos before an Ijaw migration into the place perhaps up to 600 years now. This means the people in Okrika today have both ancestry and so therefore the first language and culture, Igbo, should not be deemed to have come through slavery. That is very incorrect.
