Religious supernaturalist claim that human have an entity called the soul and that this is infused into the human feotus some times after conception. To say that non of this can be substantiated by evidence does little to dissuade adherent of these religious beliefs. A skeptic, on the other hand, would naturally have some serious questions to ask about not only the soul but also its relationship with the corporeal body. Such questions as;

1) If the soul is an entity that incorporates itself into the human, where does it reside? Is it in the brain, the blood, the heart, the legs, the eyes, etc?

2) Is it possible that a human can be born without a soul?

3) If someone is born with two heads, do they have one or two souls? See the story http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/bangladesh/2637040/Two-headed-boy-dies-after-after-just-48-hours.html

4) If one received an organ or blood for medical reasons, do they also get the soul of the recipients?

My brother, you've just picked up a word - Soul but you might as have well had said a pingalatooli or some other nonsensical term because I have no idea what you mean by the term. Please define what you mean by a soul. Otherwise I can't tell you whether what you're referring to exists or not.

for instance I do not know of anything being fused onto a foetus at some point in it's development, or of that thing being located at any point on the body. Plus you seem to be talking about something that flows in the body with the blood. Am I right?

@Huxley: If it is unclaer to you, it is not an indicator that it will be muddy to everyone alive. Your knowledge is very limited in many subjects. Even the things that you pride yourself knowing enough of, I am certain that there is still enough knowledge to be discovered in it, in 1000 years from now.

The soul is a subject that I am sure you have no inkling about. But let me answer your first question. Just like water that is in your body does not have a place that it is restricted to, or the air you breath in does not restrict itself to the Lungs alone, or the nourishment that you get from the nutrient of food injested does not stay in the digestive tract alone, so is the soul. It is not deposited in any organ or part of the body. As the remain alive so does the soul existence in all its part that is alive.

When a limb is amputated for example, the cut off part will soon dies off. But the soul remain in the remaining living part, as 100%. Just as when you can not survive for a long enough time, if you not have nourishments, or air breath in and water/liquid in the body, the body will die. There is no body that can survive or born without a soul, and still lives. If you have 2 heads, you will still have one soul. If you are a siemese twin, or conjucted being, you will have a soul. But when you are successful separated, each entity that survive will have a separate and independent soul, from the other.

@Pastor AIO: And just as the heart or any organ is formed in the simply fused ovary and sperm of female and male, and you do not know when the formation of the specific organ begins, so is the introduction of the SOUL, in its fusion with the Fetus! Please read what is above to Huxley so that you can best know about what flows in the body and what is fused to that body.

May God Almighty open our hearts to His knowledge in the true religion that will benefit us in the day of Judgement.

@Huxley:

And if received an organ or blood, you do not have to have more than 1 soul, because you are a single soul. But with ogans or blood from more than 1 entity, yours and those of the person(s) or entities that you received from. It is possible that your body may accept or reject, or react to the foreign materials. Ye your soul is still a single soul.

Huxley, you need to acquire good knowedge! So do you PastorAIO!

Kunle don't encourage him! angry smiley cool I like that dark godless hole he's been hiding in, the religion board has experienced relative levels of normalcy and reason since his reduced presence.

Egbon mi Alhaji, since you and Huxley are on such the same wavelength that you know to what he is referring when he speaks of the soul, I am also curious to know what your answer is to the other question. Is it possible to be born without a soul? and also when a lamb gets cloned please is another soul created or is it the one soul that is in both. And . . . when humans will be cloned (it is not far off and only moral objections stop further experiments) will the soul of the clone be judged on judgement day. What pearls of wisdom does the "true religion" (please take good note of the quotation marks) have to impart about such an eventuality.

Me, I actually thought that Huxley had abandoned this thread. I noticed he's been around since my first response but failed to come back to it. I guess I have to wait until he finds a website to quote from that addresses the questions I asked. Hah! whatever happened to independent thought!

For starters, the religions teach that there is an entity within human that survives death, and that this entity is what makes us ehrmmm, HUMAN. This entity is called in some religious quarters as the soul. Whatever it is called, is there anything within us that survives death?

My brother there is much of us that survives death. For a start there is the corpse. then there is the skeletal remains, which under the right conditions might even become fossilised so it survives for millenia. But I suspect that you are referring to something else.

I think we need to get a better understanding of Change. And Identity for that matter. You've probably heard of the problems of Theseus' boat. But I'll remind you anyway. http://faculty.washington.edu/smcohen/320/theseus.html

It is used to demonstrate the issues of
under what conditions does an object persist through time as one and the same object?

A simpler demonstration of the problem would go like this: I buy myself a fine Knife that I use at work. After months and months of use I find that the wooden handle has worn down so I replace the handle. After many years I also find that the blade is wearing down from so much sharpening. I get another blade of the same type to replace it. This process occurs quite a few times over the years. The question is: Is my knife the same knife that I bought in the shop all those decades ago? It looks exactly the same in every particular.

Or again, consider me. Everyday I eat and imbibe into my body elements from the food I eat which go towards making up the tissue of my body. At the same time, everyday I Shit piss, sweat, grow hair, grow nails, cut hair, cut nails, breathe out air etc. In other words shedding material that makes up my body. What makes up my identity? The materials that come together to form my body? The materials are constantly changing. I don't think there is a single atom in my body that was there 2 years ago. Am I the same person? What constitutes my Identity?

Perhaps it's the form of me. ie. the youthful good looks, the lustrous skin, the fine pectorals, biceps and attractive gluteus maximus, the chiseled facial contours. This form is abstract and is made concrete when materials are assembled in it's form. It's like the difference between an architects plan and the actually building. If the building is knocked down and then rebuilt again from the same plan would it be a different building or the same building.

Does any Identity actually survive Change? Death is just another form of change. Am I identical to that ashy kneed child that lost his sandals while playing football along the dusty streets of lagos and slowly made his way home deeply contemplating the thrashing he was bound to receive? Am I that boy? Would you say that there was anything that survived change (death)? If so, then what is it that remains constant throughout an entity's existence. If you can find it then you'll have found something that'll probably survive death.
