Like Sir Ferguson used to say Rooney is still a kid. ''That i dont believe i only think hes a hot tempered player i think he should look at his seniors' maybe Ronaldinho or Henry as they've turned to good boys in the eyes of refs.
I cant even think of Henry doing such a tackle as the one Rooney did against Portugal he even shoved away his clubmate THATS AWFUL well they r out n that serves them right

Rooney was just silly and childish. Ronaldo was his clubmate for crying out loud ! Anyway, it should be expected, England players are as crazy as their fans.

Poor spoilt brat! Average player at best who is blessed with speed but nothing else in terms of skill. (does that remind me of micheal owen?)

Has allowed the "World class Roonie" status get into his head, fumbled woefully in a competition where his mates like Messi, Cesc Fabregas, Podolski, and others have grabbed the center stage. Best young player of the tournament my foot! O sorry, i forgot i just broke my metartasal bone and will be out for 6 weeks. Wow and to think Nigeria's world cup hopes rest on my shoulders!!! undecided

take it easy on the boy, he is still a kid, the portuguese simply took advantage of his moment of madness.

after what happened to the netherlands, england shd've known better. I hope he cleans up his act eventually though

he is no doubt a skillfull and tallented kid, but yes still only a kid
Re: Is Rooney Still A Kid? by diddy4(m): 4:16am On Jul 02, 2006
he is only hot-tempered and still growing. all he needs to do is to learn how to control his temper and he is good for the go.

Rooney is not a KID but a loose cannon.
If u take this temper away from him then Rooney will become a vegetable.

Cristiano Ronaldo played his cards well and he was spot-on.
Rooney got sent off because he pushed Ronaldo and not because he kicked Carvalho's genitals.
It was kind of harsh because Rooney should have had a free-kick 10 seconds before the incident. 2 Portugese players were all over him and if he had dived like the portugese did all day the ref would have given Rooney a free-kick.
I saw it coming because Rooney was getting frustrated as he was too isolated playing as a lone striker.

Rooney will grow up and his red card wasn't the cause of England's downfall.
I didn't see 'em scoring anyway even if Rooney played 120 mins.
The major culprits of yesterday's loss were Frank Lampard and most especially Steven Gerrard.
Frank Lampard is England's best penalty taker and his miss must have sent fears into his team-mates' spines thus deflating their confidence.
Had Gerrard converted his penalty shoot-out Portugal would have been more pressured to make individual errors.
Gerrard's penalty was the knife-edge decider and missing that penalty kick was a fatal blow to Jamie Carragher's composure.

I hope they learn from this.
Its a pity it had to happen this way because England can never assemble a squad as talented as the present squad.
I feel sorry for the English fans and the FA in general. They tried everything possible to win.
£600 million tax payer's money was lavished on the world cup project and its a shame there was nuthing to show for it.
What a calamity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Referee Horacio Elizondo  kiss kiss says he sent Wayne Rooney  off against Portugal because of his stamp on Ricardo Carvalho  wink lipsrsealed

The Argentina official was caught in the middle of what turned out to be a pivotal moment of Saturday's World Cup quarter final, as England were eventually knocked out on penalties in Gelsenkirchen.

His decision to show the Manchester United star a red card proved a major influence on England's exit from Germany 2006, with Elizondo insisting his decision to send off Rooney was not influenced by Portugal's ensuing protests.

It leaves Cristiano Ronaldo in the clear after Rooney's Manchester United team-mate was initially accused of trying to persuade the South American to show the England striker a red card.

"It was violent play and therefore he got a red card," Elizondo told The Times.

"People can say what they want, but this had absolutely no influence.

"In general, I don't pay much attention to that sort of thing because I don't care about the pressure on my shoulders during a match.

"For me, it was a clear red card, so I didn't react to the Portuguese players.

"There was pushing and shoving on both sides, but for me it wasn't a reason to caution anybody.

"Sven Goran Eriksson went to the locker-room after the match and congratulated me for an excellent performance and said that I was right to send off Rooney because it was rough play."

Rooney protested his innocence over his actions, but Elizondo's admission is likely to do little to help the former Everton goalscorer's chances of avoiding an international suspension.

The controversy surrounding the sending off of Rooney has not bothered Elizondo, claiming he takes little notice to the attentions of the media.

"I've never thought about it and to be honest, I don't care," he added.

"If people or newspapers would like to create stories like that, it's up to them. I really don't care."

@ Mukina2,
The terms of agreement on the contract of the 2 players are different.
Rooney is british so one should expect his wages to be more than a Portugese Cristiano Ronaldo.

Afterall, Theo Walcott collects more money than Van Persie.
