Change This "bridge To Nowhere" Campaign by NegroNtns(m): 7:30pm On Sep 15, 2008
According to the news, at the end of August, Obama had raised $66m in contributions. His opponent raised $47m at the end of that month.

Obama has consistently outperformed his opponents in campaign contributions, first in the primary and now in general election. He has broken record and this adds to the many other records he has shattered in this election season.

He has supporters across a broad spectrum of demographics. He has only made one appearance internationally and already commands favorable following and support. Although, caution must be exercised when listing or mentioning his international fame. Its negative connotation outweighs its usefulness in the record books. Obama, effortlessly, has charmed the media onto his side as well.

In contrast, his opponent, John McCain, has far many attributes that make him unacceptable. He is perceived as too intimately connected with George Bush as well as old Washington; two establishments that the electrorate wants to dump.

For the Commander in Chief, decision making is very critical, the buck stops at his desk. In fact, beside ceremonial presence, the fundamental duty of the President is deciding where he wants to take the country. His decisions are then worded into policies. If he makes a wrong decision at a vritical moment, the most unexpected can happen.

As at today, there are 47 days left to election day and the less favorable candidate is ahead of the record breaking candidate and all because of one critical decision; the choice of a VP. Hillary Clinton or no Hillary Clinton. He allowed sentiments to control his decision.

When Obama had the opportunity to make a home run, he fumbled the pass. Its now 15mins injury time, no time -out left, the opponent is ahead on the scoreboard and this game will determine who is the superbowl champion. In just 47 days of campaigning, how can Obama beat the opponent? Without an HailMary, he can hang his helmet!

This is evidence enough for the capabilities that each candidate posess in becoming the President and making the right decision for the country? Commander in Chiefs have many adversaries in the world and they must work in cooperation with them to draw and sign agreements and treaties that promote American interest. Logic, not sentiments, are needed in sustaining those delicate relationships.

Obama is currently running a "Bridge to Nowhere" campaign. He must not tarry too long or he will break another record; "the most resourceful candidate to ever lose a general election".

it surprises me why McCain is leading and seems will win the election.

i don't know what Obama can do anymore. looks like americans are determined to have  McCain. seems it has already been sealed ready to be delivered.

had he picked Hillary, there would still be a problem.

am in shock shocked

palin power is soaring high. just saw they are planning to boycott Oprah's. na wah o undecided

7 more weeks. Do not give up!!! Point is, if Obama changes his campaign tactics to focusing more on issues that concern the people, I believe that can help him more. I know there are those in here who do not agree with me but the fact remains that Americans are not only concerned with learning that the system can be made to work for them even more than it does today; they want to learn how exactly that will happen and what the cost will be to them. I have to say McCain is doing a better job in that area than Obama has so far.

I do want to say that Bob Barr, another candidate, in my opinion, seems to have a better plan but due to their being a predominant two party system here, many Americans may never learn enough to know what choices they have this election.

Omoge & Kobo,

You are correct. There is a time threshold of three weeks - 21days, beyond which the fate is sealed and any change in the campaign strategy will not matter; barring a major disclosure or revelation on either of the candidates that shocks the morals.

Hillary can save him but Obama's followers whether in the media, on the blogs or online bulletins are still spewing venom and insults at her and sending their bad feelings in email to those that worked for her. Hard as she would love to rally support behind him, Obama, DNC and some super delegates have done some irreparable damage and though she may forgive, I am not sure she is forgetting. If Obama is who everyone want in that seat, well Hillary had moved to the side for him to assume position. If he cannot go it alone without Hillary behind him, then that's a clear conclusion that she, not him should have been the DNC candidate, and if that was discounted on the point that the people made their choice in Obama, then Obama, knowing her value to his campaign, should have made the right decision and chosed her, not Biden.

Biden is a quitter when he faces intense opposition. He ran and won Senate and was going to quit after his family loss. I gues he can be excused for that. Okay, twice he ran the Presidential race and each time he quitted when he encountered obstacles. Hillary on the other hand never quits, you have to forcefully remove her. Who, in your opinion, is more qualified to be his VP? Biden was praised for his foreign relations experience. Heck, get him to be your Secretary of State, not your VP.
Re: Change This "bridge To Nowhere" Campaign by Kobojunkie: 10:01pm On Sep 15, 2008
Given, Obama camp made a mistake playing the race card against the Hillary camp during the primaries and that, I believe is to blame for a major portion of the problem between the two camps to date. I am not sure how many people out there are actually convinced by Hillary’s new song to them.

I know I do not change my mind that easy so I would not expect majority of Hillary supporters to do so in only 9 weeks. So I consider the move by Obama, to have Hillary campaign for him, a bad move and I still do not think it is effective in any way.

Seeing her back out there, only this time, campaigning for the very man who “scorned her” will, in my opinion, do more to remind them of the bitter fight and push them away even more. About his strategy, he gave Palin a lot of the push she has today. If he had ignored and focused mainly on educating the people on the particulars of his plan for them and going out to answer question on details, he would have been better able to win over Hillary voters. He instead went for “nanny” Hillary (bad move). Now Palin is getting more and more of the Hillary voters whom we did not expect her to get.

I still believe he can win if he chooses instead to stay away from comparing plans and strategies as he continues to, but focus on the issues, which seems to be what many want, and not the crap the media continues to focus on. Treat the average Americans as intelligent people and you hook ‘em in. Continue to bicker and you loose them fast.

After so many years on the tv watching soap operas, realTV, Jerry Springer, Maury Povich, Road Rules, Entertainment channel, Gossip news and papers and all other sleazy labeled programming, this is what American society has become - core issues focusing on practical day to day aspects of life are not appealing anymore. To give your campaign a popular appeal, you inject it with scenarios that mimic what people are accustomed to seeing on the tube - drama, serial epics, suspense, bravado, lies, revelations, and so on,

Republicans use feedback from focus groups and psychologists to manuver their campaign. Between when Palin was introduced and today, McCain has changed his style of campaigning three times already.

1. He agreed not to use negative ad and when that appeared to be too dry, he switched and started using them. He was scolding local and state chairmen for attacking Obama, now they are not restrained from lying, even when they know their statements is contrary to facts, they release it to the airwaves anyway.

2. Notice how at every campaign rally the spouses are standing immediately behind. Face time with America. They want to force Mitchell Obama and Jill Biden to come out and face the camera.

3. He is taking the back stage and giving Sarah a lot of face time with the public. Palin is the glamorous star, the celebrity that paparazzi swarm over to get her shots and gossip about her the next day in news prints. It is effective and McCain campaign is going to stick with that tone through election day. If no one is fishing for gossip about her, expect the campaign to manufacture one and throw it out there for consumption.

Don't blame McCain for not discussing the issues. Blame tv for turning America into a dummy nation.

Obama is currently running a "Bridge to Nowhere" campaign. It will be sad if he does not change strategy.

He should put away his academic hat and stop appealing to logic, wear the political hat and start arousing emotions.

I believe democrats use the same, only these focus groups can only tell so much.

I don’t believe America is necessary a dummy nation. Sure, most Americans watch a lot of tv, I am guilty as well but when it comes to issues that affect our lives, we are well aware of these problems and want solutions. T.V is used by many to get away from their reality but at the end of the day, they want solutions to these problems that tv can not provide.

I am not saying McCain does not discuss the issues. What I am saying is Obama himself needs to focus more on those than McCain. Majority of Americans have gotten to know McCain over the past 30 something years. The man does not even have to open his mouth much as his record speaks volumes already. Obama is the new comer that needs to establish himself here. I know some will try to start the experience argument here but we need to realize that in this America, the people know McCain more than they know Obama. Even in Chicago, people know McCain, his history and more about his many fights in senate than they do Obama. Obama needs to use these last minutes to make himself visible on issues.

Millions of small business owners are voting this election, so are millions of people who own homes and have car payments; people who drive cars, and have seen how high the price of oil has gone in the past couple of months; people who can not afford expensive green cars and are wondering if the cost if worth it. There are millions of people who see the green movement as yet another fad, and wonder what the cost will be for them to buy into one man’s deal over the other’s.

This election there are millions who are going to go to the polls knowing that the democrats have been in control of the senate for 2 years and practically accomplished next to nothing. The media does not focus on this but the average Americans are watching and waiting to cast their votes and their decisions are most likely going to be based on more than what TV and newspapers have offered them so far.

Whoever thinks Mcsame would win this election is only decieving him/herself. cheesy

All this yak about who votes and who doesnt vote and all that is nonsenase. I want any democrat to defend why, for God's sake, . why Obama is tied with McCain in public opinion with an unpopular party in white house?
