This has no bearing on the functionality of the phone. It basically allows you to download features to the phone. If you go to apple.com and download features, you can do that on a MAC or a PC i.e windows. At least that's what I have done with mine.

But if there is any other info out there about this, i stand correctly, but like i said it has no bearing on functionality.
