BUSINESS LESSON TO LEARN FROM OUR SUPER EAGLES WORLD CUP OUTING.
Brand sponsorship is very essential for businesses that has the capital to invest, some see it as corporate social responsibility (CSR). But the major things to consider during sponsorship is the Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Thread (SWOT) of the organization you intend to sponsor.
A critical analysis is the sponsorship of SUPER EAGLES by PEAK MILK,GUINESS STOUT, LUCOZADE BOOST E.T.C. Lucozade and peak are products believed to be energy building drink,our football team went to the world cup and performed poorly in terms of tactics, low energy and stamina, that's to say that those products have failed to provide its steaming customers the necessary vital ingredient needed to build their strength and energy, it also implies that they will experience a huge decrease in her market share and revenue. That's the price one pays for inadequate research and evaluation before venturing into sponsorship.
How can you convince me that PEAK MILK "it's in you" when those that consumes its often failed in their responsibilities to win all their matches? Even PEAK MILK brand ambassador Steven Keshi had to resign because he had failed and in actual sense peak milk is never in him, definitely this is a bad image for the company and its product.
Finally, organizations should learn from this and be mindful of the procedures necessary to implement, before venturing into sponsorship, a sponsored product is a visible qualities embedded in a product through which consumers and prospects see, it's not all about the money.

@OP, Ur problem is that u have spent Ur entire life studying theories about advertising and brand management. Well, bad news, those theories NEVER apply in the real world in its exact form.
So u are very very very wrong. An established brand is an established brand. Issues such as poor performance of a brand ambassador will barely affect the market performance of such a brand
