What you are saying is nothing new. The gospels have evolved over time as the doctrines of christianity have evolved over time.

The Johannine comma is one addition that has eventually been retracted. There are others that haven't, and others that have. That is partly why there are so many versions of the bible. I don't get what point you are actually trying to make.

Or is it that His disciple's saw him ascend into Heaven, with this our physical body?
Or was it some sort of spiritual phenomenon?

Your opinion and reason for opinion, please.

I couldn't have said this better honestly.

I guess, Jesus prolly left Judea, to it's neighbouring towns.

The Codex Sinaiticus (also called the Aleph) was an interesting find. One question some theologians ask is, "If it was so accurate and/or important, why wasn't it as reproduced as some other manuscripts in the early church?". Of course a possible answer is that it got lost / hidden at a point. Another suggestion is that someone ensured a possibly more accurate / earlier account was destroyed so that this one would survive (this reeks of conspiracy, yes).

In either case, I think about 90% of the contents match no matter the manuscripts translated from. The differences tend to be omissions and additions that don't change core Christian doctrines. I would reconsider this stance if, say, we find credible historical records indicating that Jesus DID NOT ascend. That would be a more remarkable find than the literary omission of an event that may or may not have happened.

One of two things happened:

Either Jesus ascended and it was not recorded in the codex Sinaiticus (for one reason or the other).

Or Jesus did not ascend bodily, and someone felt they should add that to the story.

Sadly we currently don't have enough information on this. Mileages will vary by personal choice.

For the record I do not consider the Bible as inerrant, so I don't expect all events recorded in it to be historically accurate.

Other things might come to mind:

What if Jesus didn't want to be seen in his resurrected body by everyone, and appear to only his own? He was known to have liked his privacy while he was alive.

Recall also that in his resurrected body Jesus was said to have walked through walls and doors. I am not sure that body is the kind of flesh that you and I have. We are also told it could be manifested to give a solid feel to the touch (to convince Thomas).

There is really no other example of such a body, that we can possibly understudy. If Jesus indeed ascended / teleported in such a body, it might not be so hard to believe if you believe such a body can exist in the first case.

I can’t remember the name of my own thread…it was something about coming to earth to gain a body. Grrrrrrrr…I wish I could find it.

@ bolded
We are so “on the same page”. I’m interested to know if we are thinking alike.

Remarkable! Now I'm curious. I wish I knew the title, I'd have searched Google's cache for it.

P.S. I really like your poetry. I especially enjoyed the "You don't see me" poem. It gave me vibes of Madonna's "Say Goodbye", one of my favorite songs ever. Good job, Tex smiley

Thanks. I love poetry. One of my faves is missing. It's about the preexistence.

Madonna? Was that song 80s or 90s? She didn't get as much credit as was due for her singing, maybe because her personality overpowered it. That is one of her most beautiful songs. Nice!

@Uyi Iredia...do you remember the name of that thread. You started a separate thread to ask what I believe.
