u owe ur mum n dad 50k each, u bought d laptop for 97k; which means ur mum and dad contributed 48.5k each(97/2) so u were meant to return 1.5k change to each of dem, so u returned 1k to them remaining 0.5k each; the sum of d 0.5k which is 1k(d money u kept)

the missin 1k represents d laptop u bought, remember u r in possession of the laptop, so laptop + ur 1k + mum 1k + dad 1k =100k.

if u should return the laptop wch represents d 1k, u will av 97k + 1k ( d one with u) = 98/2 = 49 (that's d remainin balance to each parents).
