C180 is good and rugged. It's a 1.8ltr engine and I believe fuel eco is good. Left to me I'll go for c180. Toyota Camry is dull. I don't care if it's fuel efficient. I don't even want to think it has better fuel eco than c180. Isn't it a 2.2ltr engine?

Hello! please you'll have to be a bit specific....there are various trims, with different fuel guzzling capacities. Is the camry you are interested in being offered in I4 or v6 flavour. for the c180, is it a kompressor etc...etc? The mpgs of both models overlap so this info is very important.

My brother take the Benz it is more economical, durable and better to drive. But there is a but find a good Benz mechanic not those thermostat removing ones and you wouldn't even want to change the car.

If you buy Camry it would bore you that you would be wanting to sell it and fake parts might make it cheaper to maintain.

Both cars I think maintain is almost the same thing.

Any of these questions that are this vague, doesn't require too much Talk just tell them Toyota, because that's what dey want to hear. And to you the op, benz (I mean any benz) trumps the Toyota anyday, but they aren't meant for people who doesnt appreciate the beauty of engineering.

It depends...If you drive just because you want to go from point A to B go for the camry but If you enjoy driving, feeling your ride and like elegance, go for the benz. If you want to enjoy your car, preventive maintenance is key, there is also an MB thread on nairaland incase you need help on it.

When the OP is trying to chose a car and he starts comparing Mercedes Benz to a Camry there is something wrong with that but when he mentioned fuel economy then the basis of buying a car went out the window he should go research and see which is good for his personality and would rather drive everyday

Lol, I really appreciate your comments. Am sori dat I didn't specify the trim or all dat.. Cos am nt all dat too familiar with that.... But as regards to the benz...is d regular c180 c-class (1999 'nt too sure'). I noticed that it is perferred car dis days..and some thing must be a reason for dat.. D camry on the oder hand..we all no the normal 1999 model, I heard is 2.O litre engine..so I still expect more candid responses from car experts in the house..Then, with respect to the usage, what I want is a car that will answer me whenever I call (e.g going to court everyday). I also need a car that will consume less with AC since I am always on suit. My present car is killing me thou is strong.(budget is I millon naira)

^^^ Go for c180. The Camry is a 2.2ltr engine and if it's V6 forget it. The benz will give you a professional and elegant mien. The Camry is just too dull for my liking.

I think most of the responses so far would rather complicate the young lawyer's situation. The op has not said he is a car enthusiast, but is concerned about fuel economy especially, using a/c in traffic and city driving. Telling him that a particular brand of the two vehicles in consideration is bland and boring does not specifically help him.

Consideration is maintenance cost and fueling. One of my observations on this forum is that people always recommend what they like to others rather than what the person needs. There is no point talking about performance and handling because that is not what he needs at this point. That could also push him to buying a car he would struggle to keep in the long run and perhaps, sell at a give away price much later.

To answer your question, I think the Camry will offer you a better option of what you want. I have used the 2001 model of 2.2 I4 engine and the fuel economy is superb. Spare parts may not neccessarily be cheap if you buy OEM parts, and they are readily available. I used to buy my front brake pads then for 12000 to 13000 Naira. They were original and usually lasted a long time while also preserving my disc depending on my driving habits. I could drive for more than seven months with regular long haul trips without visiting a mechanic.

Knowledgable mechanics in this regard are also available almost everywhere. I am not sure I can say the same thing about the Benz. Though spare parts may be readily available but may be more expensive.

Your budget of N1000,000 should get you a very clean tittle of the Camry.
