It’s time to arise!! let us arise!
My fellow compatriots arise,
Memory of the beauty of the anthem, so nice,
We sang it with passion and pride with no compromise,
We studied every night in silence,
Yes we were prepared for this moment,
The moment we’ve been waiting for,
We kept to our guardian’s advice.
The moment that would dry the tears from their eyes,
But that moment was cheated,
Then came the cheater unannounced,
There was a chill in the wind, oh that night,
One like no other with a grave silence,
It sent shiver to my spine with surprise,
A loud noise broke the silence,
We ran blindly in the dark, like we were on practice,
There was chaos everywhere, with the echo of cries,
Everyone scrambling for safety,
Here they are on mufti,
You are safe they spoke softly,
We calmed our nerves immediately.
The dark made it difficult for sight to see,
Out of the dark came a dime head light from an old truck.
My foot hurts cried a girl in the dark,
So fast we made it to the truck in the dark,
In the dark smelt the stench in the truck,
I closed my sunken eyes as tears gracefully crawled down my face in the dark,
Out of the dark came the rustling sound, the engine made,
Eyes rolled from side to side as we set out on motion,
Out of the silence I heard my heart beat to the sound of the truck,
Out of the dark a voice whispered I’m scared,
There was dead silence only our heart beats responded.
Out of the dark a voice whispered who are they?
The engine stopped running and the rhythm disappeared,
The moon shone to our rescue,
The dark hide its face from the light,
The trees around us were sad,
Where are we? Where are we? Was the question that had no answer.
A man from the dark ushered us out from the truck,
His bushy eyebrows and wide nose gave him a severe look,
Welcome to sambisa, forcing a smile on his face,
I then realized from the throbbing of my heart and quick breathing that they are the wanted terrorist.
#bringbackourgirls, then became the new anthem of the day
