The Killing Of An RCCG Pastor & Adeboye's Oath of Silence - Engineer Lakpa Lakpa by lakpalakpa: 6:56pm On Jul 18, 2014
I was shocked when I read about the sad death of an RCCG Pastor in Borno State. May his gentle soul rest in peace and may God grant his family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. I also pray that his wife and three kids are found unhurt.

I hope at this point Pastor Adeboye will consider his stance of keeping silent on national issues. These "men of God" command a lot of respect from some of our leaders and this put them in a good position to speak against corruption, misrule and abuse of the rule of law. Staying silent is equivalent to a betrayal of his flock majority of whom (including the deceased pastor) are adversely affected by the misrule of the ruling class.

Martin Luther King once said,
" The wickedness in our society is not because of the wickedness of the wicked people but the silence of the good ones."

***To ignore evil is to become an accomplice to it.

***To accept passively an unjust system is to cooperate with that system; thereby the oppressed become as evil as the oppressor.

***He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it.

Thanks for Reading

Why I rarely make public comments – Adeboye

June 1, 2013 by Agency Reporter

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has explained that he is careful in making public comments to avoid mistakes.

In an interview with Haaretz newspaper during a visit to Jerusalem, Adeboye said he had shied away from speaking out on national issues in order to avoid influencing people in the wrong way.

He also said he was aware of the enormous responsibility on his shoulders as the leader of a global church with millions of members.

“At times it’s frightening. In Africa you have a saying, the man who is carrying a basket of eggs must walk gently … whatever mistakes you make, you affect destinies,” he said.

Adeboye stated that his transformation from a Mathematics lecturer at the University of Lagos to a pastor was a divine call, noting that he has a mandate to preach peace everywhere he goes.

“I’ve always said turning a mathematician into a pastor takes only God. In my work with God, I’ve learned that he has a sense of humour,” he stated.

The pastor, who has led the RCCG for three decades, arrived for a meeting at the Dan Jerusalem Hotel, surrounded by an entourage of eight loyal aides, who treated him with the awe normally reserved for heads of state, the paper said.

Speaking on the growing global influence of African preachers, he said the seeds sowed by missionaries who brought Christianity to Africa were producing fruit.

“When you reap, after a certain period you begin to sow. Today, in many parts of the Western world, people have gone rather cold toward the church. Fortunately, the seed sowed in Africa has germinated and the harvest is now coming back to them. So, they are merely reaping what they sowed.

He should put pressure on the President to act, staying quiet as if all is well is part of why we are here.

The fact that we don't see him on National TV doesn't mean he's silent and happy with the situation.

Do you know the calibre of people who joined the campaign on 'bring back our girls'? What's the outcome?

Muslims have come out in numbers to condemn their actions on TV, yet the killings keep increasing. Christians and muslims have organised several prayers together, yet these guys keep killing.

Those blaiming Pastor Adeboye clearly do not know anything about Christianity/Missionary work. Some people derive joy in preaching the word in war torn cities. Adeboye will never force anyone to start a Churh. Most of the RCCG branches you see were launched by dedicated individuals (members).

Mind you, Christians are soldiers of Christ (with non carnal weapons). Do you know the job of a soldier?

So what exactly is your point?

Are you of the opinion that when something is going wrong with the society staying quiet is the best option??

Are you aware of the enormous pressure put on the Federal Government by the campaign??

But for the campaign the inept FG would have as usual swept the whole thing under the carpet.

In the face of evil, staying silent shouldn't be an option!!

Adeboye said he had shied away from speaking out on national issues in order to avoid influencing people in the wrong way.

I think you guys are misinformed. Since the BH menace became the way it us now. Pastor Adeboye have not stopped praying in almost all his public meetings about it. It was because of this same issue that all RCCG members were asked to fast for 100 days. What else would you expect a man of God to do?
